The spacious feel of the home and the huge folding doors, bringing the outside in. With the spacious open plan concept, all areas of the living areas feel inclusive in the house.

How did they achieve the high ceilings using containers ?
@pixelgraphica2 ай бұрын
They would have cut 4 containers in half and placed the half containers on top (alternating turning 4 half containers upside down to give the additional 4"). They would have cut the top (roof) out of the bottom 8 containers.

@@pixelgraphica Thank you for the detailed response. Has this technique been documented anywhere? I'm currently building using 8 containers

There is no benefit at all of using shipping containers for such a structure. It actually would be more hassles and more costly to use shipping containers for this case. It would be much simpler and cheaper to go with a traditional stick frame structure.

In your opinion.

depends on the finish's

Look at the great room or the high ceiling. What needs to be done to the containers to build that space or the high ceiling? Basically, the containers need to be disassembled, throwing away all the benefits of the container, ie the strength from its four corner pillars and the strength from its side sheet metals. After that, you have to cobble/weld the metal pieces together, ie lots of difficult work. A stick frame would be a lot easier.

They re-use a disposed of product(Sea Cans) & can cost & use less new materiel than a regular stick & mortar build depending on the finish's! That doesn't mean there aren't luxury container home's, hotels/motels, apartment buildings & malls in some of the most expensive places on earth that cost a lot to build just like stick & mortar homes
