Jan Leyers arrived at his fifth station on his journey across Europe: London. The laws in GB are much more liberal when it comes to religion than in the countries he visited before. People are allowed to practice their religion and wear whatever they want, as long as they don't harm others.
Jan meets Haitham al-Haddad, a popular Sheikh who is the chairman of a Sharia council, one of eighty in GB. He decides on marriages, divorces and inheritances. Jan discusses his rather controversial views on the Islamic law.

You mean the government that is allowing primary schools to learn about LGBTQ+ and exploring their bodies etc? Why do children need to know about this? This is precisely why communities like this need to exist to ensure our children are not confused by the teachings of the gov and the morality practiced in the household. This is one example of the type of concerns communities like this can address that the government cannot. By the way, Christianity and Judaism have similar counselling too. It does not mean it presides over the law of the land but rather simply informs the followers of said religion where the doctrine stands on the issue. So why do you have problem with islam councils only?

I'm a Muslim and I agree with this. Obey the law of the land is instructed to all Muslims provided it does not infringe upon your human rights and gods commands. The issue with modernising, in the context of what westerners typically mean i.e. women can chose to wear skirt and do what they want with their body, is that es you can but then don't follow islam, which is a choice. Modernizing should be taken with pinch of salt for that is precisely what has lead to the downfall of Christianity over the decades where Christianity has evolved to a point far from what the bible teaches.

I was asked by a man sitting down if I was Muslim and I told him no. He then told me to go to the next table. I looked at his as if he was serious. After he continued to insist, his wife then started yelling in her language. So I left to the other table. Furthermore, my friend who was sitting at their table, who is a Muslim got up from there and came to our table after witness how they treated me. he is not forcing Sharia law. Usually what happens in here is, for example in a divorce case muslims come to him for his advise or verdict then proceed the real hearing in the legal court. Usually they come to him for a peace of mind. Like, for me as a woman, I'll be worried if my divorce to my husband wasn't approved by Islam, because that means in Allah's eyes, I may be still married to that man and marrying another in that state will be a grave sin.

When Britain and most of Europe abandoned Christianity..... it created a sort of vacuum. Everyone has to believe in something/someone. When Muslims came to Europe, they saw the vacuum and it became easy for them to fill it with their beliefs.... and most Europeans had no defense. This is the sad result.....

It is very easy for someone to promise you things that cannot be guaranteed, either out of fear, or gain. Go back a few hundred years and take a look at religious leaders who would ask for young girls to be sacrificed, or even offered sexually, just to make sure that the Sun would rise in the morning. It's very similar to taking out an insurance policy, but you can't guarantee ever to be paid out.

Sharia Civil Courts are already in operation and will be given more powers under Labour. These courts will be given precedence over UK law in districts with Muslim populations, overruling the Supreme Court in such districts.
