In my country, the barilla Genovese pesto at minute 3:24 has a value of $4,500 clp, something like £5.20. I was quite surprised by the price difference. I want to cry 😭

@ Sebastian Oyarzo I live like 40 minutes away from Genova and there's this little supermarket in my town that sells Pesto di Pra (province of Genova where they cultivate basil and produce a bunch of pesto) and it's absoloutly best! I get huge glass jars (500g or around 1lbs) of fresh pesto at €9.90 in the fridge section and then I portion it at home and freez it. And they also only use traditional ingredients like pine nuts, parmiggiano, olive oil and honestly with how much the ingredients cost nowdays, aspecially pine nuts, it's cheaper for me to buy it like this than make it at home.

As an Italian that lived in the Netherlands (now in UK) I completely get you when you said "I missed Esselunga and did not cherished enough" although here in London you can find everything. However, in the Netherlands, there is unfortunately not that wide choice that Italian groceries stores have. I am also biased and I really miss knowing what to get immediately in a grocery store and feeling curious about this and that

Omg I also lived in the Netherlands and now live in the UK! I will add, that while there are some great Italian delis here in London which was not a thing in Amsterdam, in my opinion your average Waitrose/Sainsbury cannot compete with the selection at Albert Heijn 🥹

Don't pay too much attention to the comments (one of the many wrong is that about Barilla pesto, if there is one thing Barilla still does well are the sauces, of course we're talking about industrial sauces). Brava, your Italian pronunciation is excellent.

Hello. I am in the middle of watching the video and heard your question about products labeled “bio”. If you figured it out over the course of the video, I am sorry but I didn’t want to forget to comment. When you see products labeled “bio” here in Italy, it is short for “biologico” and that means that the products are organic. I hope that this helps in some small way. I am now off to keep watching the video. Have a nice night.

Most Italians buy many liters of oil between October and November directly from farmers, which then lasts all year, perhaps in large metropolises it is more difficult to procure it but there are so many local producers that almost no one buys industrially bottled oil .

This is how I learned it whether you believe it or not 🙂 I’m assuming you’re only saying this because my accent is quite good, but that’s because I’ve been specifically practicing it for years and from a relatively young age when it’s easier to learn languages and accents. Are you monolingual by chance? Because what I’m saying here is not a wild concept for anyone who’s ever learned a second language
