Please for God's sake don't compare between them and never and ever undermine or diminish The one and Only The Greatest Nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar...She doesn't need to be a pop singer or exhibit her versatility but her voice and range coupled with melody and soothing expressions is something incredible for which if you wait for another 100 generations you won't find someone who could come close to her...

Honestly what a silly comparison… don’t know how much people have LISTENED to Lata’s huge volume of work and of course different genres within that volume… when Lata was singing GENS one after another in 50s, 60s and 70s there was no Asha there except whatever she has with op Nayyar and few here n there … And if you can find somewhere in Live shows, try to LISTEN Asha singing Lata’s songs and then UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE Chatting friendly with different people and dancing while singing etc doesn’t make anyone bigger than Lata… 1 to 10 is Lata ALWAYS, anybody else comes after that PERIOD Of course Asha is icon, like her singing and she is a tall singer BUT don’t compare with Lata… nahi to na chahte hue bhi ye likhna padta hai

Completely agree with you. May her volume of work of the last 80 years of music career gets to reach the masses. 12K+ songs is by no means a small achievement. Also if you actually listen to her classical songs (like Legacy with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan), one would be in awe how the same singer who can make people dance in a night club also make them to meditate in a quiet room. That's the power of Asha Bhosle's voice.
