The reason why penitentiaries are incapable of rehabilitation is simply because it's existence is a reality that every inmate has to confront with this thing way of life surrounding inside where it challenges strips away any goodness you have within you thought perception meaning goals to make you less godlike it makes you have to be the aggressor just to survive and what it breathes out on purpose is anyone who sees the challenge of being imprisoned attacking you with fear providing the responses out of fear you react in offense because you felt fear and so you had to make something else for you that's when I realized those who fear me do so because they have made others fear them and it's a cycle of disease that we're not looking at it impactfully because there's no statistics on what it does to everyone eventually inside and outside what's inside is the first hand of what it's going to be like outside that affects everyone else a society is not judge on its accomplishments no more so than it's ignorance to the lowest of any Nation that they go out of their way to hide to any visitors or even to their own people

On my wife’s account here but I spend 25 plus yrs in and out taking the tour of every level 3 yard you can think of from the Q to Soledad to Old Folsum, all the while trying to be “ a stand up guy” while not catching more time doing so. Robbed myself of ever getting SSI because I was never working long enough. Discharged my D# in 1999 and have been out of trouble since. If not for God and my wife of almost 30 yrs now I probably wouldn’t be here so yes praise God! I still have a lot of prison mannerisms ie I don’t put my back to an open room or entrance in a restaurant If I can help it. I watch where people’s hands are, don’t let people get right up on my back excetra. It stays with you after being in several riots and spending yrs seeing people get stabbed to death. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.. To the Idiots that spout that “ don’t do the crime” crap, remember this “ but for the grace of God there go I’m before you say something like that.

First time offenders with non violent crimes need a clean slate. Serve their time, pay that debt and upon reentry they need a real chance at integrating back into society. Have the crime, arrest details hidden unless they are attempting to work a job that the info is vital such as hositals, law enforcement or anythinf requiring more than a smile amd handshake. 6months before release these people need to under go intensive deporgramming from prison life and the fucked up rules they all play by. Upon release they need someone who gives a shit about them and that they will listen to. My small workforce is over 90% felons. Violent ones need 5 years of good outside time and I won't think twice about hiring them. Granted I have had fellons who fell back into their ways but most just want a better way in life... a way to make enough to survive and through effort prosper. My workers are my family. We eat dinner together every friday after work. We all are tight knit and family. All i ask when hiring is you give us your all. In return we teach you how to professionally diagnose and repair appliances. This is a skill that's desperately needed no matter where you go on life. Every 6 months I have a private sit down with each member of my family. I talk with them to see how they are where they are and what dreams they have. The idea is to help each other. Of my 6 employees 2 have bought homes and are married with kids. 2 are on that path and i have 2 more that just got hired and are learning how to repair appliances. Ive never had such close friends. I had a blown water heater at 3am. I made one phonecall and my whole crew showed up without being asked. Somehow they even came with a brand new water heater to replace mine. Within 1hr the mess was cleaned up and a new waterheater installed. Ive never felt so much love before in my life. We need to rethink how post prison felons are treated. Granted ive had a couple thay just couldnt give the life up... but most latched on to me just as much as i latched on to them. I pay them very well and if the buisness grows so does their checks. I want them to suceed.
