Fantastic and insightful report yet again by Ollie😊👍 - keep them coming! Castillo kit is the go-to manufacturer for best mix of performance/value IMO. To clarify a lot of comments however - it ain't handmade in Italy....this site is the HQ/R&D facility. All the kit us minions use is mass produced in Moldova and Bosnia & Herzegovina currently. The early Aero 2.0 Ollie mentioned was factory produced in Hungary (still got one 👍). Doesn't detract from quality or performance but explains the price difference between Castelli and Assos I think (castelli every time even if cost neutral😁)

@Bikey_McBeardface4 жыл бұрын
@@shainexxxsescrimshaw7605 GCN prices are a little excessive, but to be fair they are caught between a rock and a hard place. Having small runs of custom kit made will always be at least 30-40% more expensive. And it's not like they try to hide the make or model of the jerseys. Their "core/fan" kit is pretty damn good and reasonably priced.

The higher end tech jerseys and bibs are quite a step above I have Ali kits to castelli, Rapha, and PNS. You can def tell/feel the difference, in pockets, zipper, fit, and aerodynamics but also tech like wind proofing or swear wicking and breathability (which is important for ya extreme+ mild high and low temperature riding) But they all work well it just depends on what you need out of it. I’d say the biggest difference is chamois pads, longevity, and weather tech.

Is all that printed paper single use, or can one printer "back" do several jersey backs? Can that printed paper be recycled, or is this another hidden carbon footprint of cycling?
@Bikey_McBeardface4 жыл бұрын
The print can be used multiple times, how many times depends on the design and the equipment used. The home/diy printers you get 1-3 prints depending on the design but with the industrial stuff its many times more, Just look how slow that printer is, if they had to print a new sheet for every couple of jerseys it wouldn't be cost or time effective. It also doesn't put loads of toxic dyes into the water table either.

I love Castelli clothing. I still have a winter jersey which is 26 years old - nearly transparent and the roubaix liner is all but in the washing machine filter but still a favourite. The sizing is a bit crazy (jersey is XXXL or something and I'm 42'' chest...) and I agree with the comment below about styling - give me a solid colour or two and forget all the adverts and we're good to go. I don't think they've got it right every time (much like Rapha) but innovation takes a bit of bravery and willingness to not get things perfect every time - the Gabba is a case in point. Every company now has their version of the Gabba; an amazing garment and a true innovation for anyone who rides in the UK.
