Children are punished enough to be in situations where a parent is incarcerated. Such programmes help alleviate some trauma and introduce some semblance of normalcy - even for a day. Good on the community Chest/Salvation Army for doing this.

@@mariat4706 any children will prefer a father in jail vs a personality disorder father who hurt them 24/7. I agree with your above comments and yes it does help the children abit but at the same time cause more stress for the mother. After this meet up session the children will miss the dad more and the poor mother is the one who have to pacify and comfort the children and also make a living and travel to the prison every 2 weeks. Easy to say when you don't have prisoner in your household. I have a brother 30 years old but spend 16 years in and out of boy's home and prison. And we live in the west.
