I love my '81 Dean Z. It's a guitar I use as a benchmark for all other guitars. It's simply the best. So glad I had enough paper route $$$ and an older brother who knew good quality guitars back in 1985.

Brad Mader really helped me out years ago when I needed some work done on my USA. I even think Elliott himself gave the work the final ok, which really showed how he was regarding customer service, right to the end. Glad to see Brad is still at the helm.

Those natural Vs and E shaped in the vintage stuff are gorgeous I bet they are incredible instruments. Dean has unfortunately had a lot of controversy but hopefully they are getting the ship steered in the right direction again. The guitar industry is better when Dean and BC Rich are releasing cool guitars and being competitive with the bigger “lifestyle” brands. The only Dean I’ve ever owned was about a 2010 silver Dave Mustaine V it was an import but the high end set neck import with Grover Tuners and the Mustaine live wire pickups ( the best active pickups I’ve ever played) it was a way better guitar than I thought a guy was sacrificing it for 300 dollars on Craigslist and I thought it was the bolt on variety but after contacting the seller found out it was the high spec thousand dollar new guitars that Dave actually played live not his specific guitar but Dave did use the set neck imports live on tour. Anyway back when you could get those for around 500 used I doubt you could find a better built and spec’s metal guitar for the money. The neck was a D shape and the most comfortable neck profile I’ve ever played think wizard but a chubby wizard bigger in the right spots. Anyway good luck to Dean hopefully getting back to building kick ass guitars without the drama. As long as the son is not running things anymore he had no business being in that position and his remarks about Dime were just not cool. If it weren’t for Dime Dean would’ve never come back. Elliot would’ve never stood for his shenanigans. I don’t imagine.

Fortunately Pam has been leading Dean in the right direction and has restored their name and what they stand for. So they’re certainly on the up! And meeting the folks behind the scenes here gives me 100% confidence in their products. I’m really honored that this opportunity sort of fell in my lap (I don’t know much about Dean prior to this). My favorite Dean is the Miyako (lovebites jn)flying v. Signature model for iconic Japanese power metal shredder. Which they no longer make in Tampa exclusively made in the Japanese market but that is sold out always and you find the USA version that was made in Tampa you'll probably paying $5,000 for it.

Do Dean guitars have thin necks like Ibanez and Jackson?

It depends on the guitar, especially when you get into the customs. The necks on the ones I've played and comfortable for my hands, and I typically prefer the thinner Ibanez wizard necks

I recently became the proud owner of a Dean USA Miyako Signature V Flame Maple Top Transparent Red 2020 w/OHSC (pristine condition). On the back of the headstock is "20 1462", which I believe means manufactured in 2020 (same year Miyako's was manufactured) and the 1,462 guitar (all models) you made there. Is there any way to find out how many Miyako Signature guitars were made at your location before the idiots at Gibson decided to play games? I'm just curious how rare this USA model is, which I assume more were made in Korea.
