I like when the journalists covering the story can speak the native language of the area they're in, as opposed to needing a translator. Not that theres anything wrong with needing one, it just seems more professional.

Adrian Reyes FARC only exists because of dissillusioned poli-sci uni undergrads, and scumbags from the country that enjoy drug money and have never experienced the joys of running water. If you think FARC is actually hanging up their guns....well good luck with that. This is merely a brand pivot.

As someone from Colombia I fully support the peace deal. The FARC did commit many atrocities, but so did the paramilitaries and at a greater number. The successor of Alvaro Uribe is wrong, this was a civil war. I'm glad peace is finally in the horizon. Time for change is here. My family was gravely affected by this conflict and I had to leave my country. Do I think the peace deal could be better? Yes. And to everyone in the comments that say that this will turn out badly and communism will take over and this will become Venezuela, sorry but you are wrong the current pea deal is a much better alternative than the 60 years of war and political instability that has claimed my home country for so long.

My father is Colombian, he's made me aware of the things that have gone on in Colombia and why he left. As much as he disliked what FARC was doing, the Government wasn't any better, he and I both agree that this peace deal with FARC is for the better. By killing it you'd only be extending the conflict.

That`s exactly what they said with Chavez in the 90s. Remember that he was a terrorist that fronted a violent coup and attempted to murder our president. Then he got amnesty and soon enougn a political campaign financed by all the millions and millions of dollars of dirty laundered money, ended up being the biggest and most expensive campaign ever in Venezuela and he won because the traditional parties split the vote, he only had 30 % of the electorate but it didn`t mattered, he modified the constitution as soon as he got in, controled the electoral and judicial powers and democracy ended, After that is all a fraud. They are doing the same thing in Colombia with this terrorists that see democratic tools as a way to end democracy.

My uncle was miserably killed by the guerrilla, he was just a poor father trying to make a living. A close friend was kidnapped by them. Family business was blackmailed into giving money for them. People defending them are just insensitive, the peace had to be achieved but the reward for them was exaggerated. It was enough with letting them free, now Colombia has to pay them and sustain their political party, way to go! :)

I don't like communism, but the FARC seem to be trying soemthing different, like china did. They seem to improve on it a bit and are being more rational. I don't know everything but for now there is peace and I would love to see where this goes, maybe a more stable future for Colombia

nerfvideos96 hi! Yeah they did start trying to do something different, but eventually they just became drug dealers and terrorist. They still use this idealistic discourse of a free Colombia, but the truth is that it serves just as a smokescreen to cover their thirst for power and money

As a Colombian I'm happy to finally see our situation portaied from both sides of the conflict by a foreign news channel. I understand the signing of the peace seems "romantic" and all, but there's a whole lot that goes behind it. it's true that's good that we're taking a step forward to stop the violence, and one would think that all Colombians should agree, but the resentment against Las FARC is rooted in the collective memory, because here almost everyone you could meet has at least one distant relative or a friend of a friend that was victim of their atrocities, and that is not easy to forget. Thank you Vice, for making the effort of digging a little bit more, and not just staying with the pink side of things.

I sincerely wish with all my heart and soul that every former FARC member goes to jail for the rest of their lives. Americans love making films about how bad the Nazis were but it seems that now it doesn't matter if you are just as bad as long as you are a "rebel" with a shirt with che guevara on it.
