Hoshido looks like feudal Japan with gorgeous scenery and very funny ninjas/samurai Nohr is pretty dark and industrialized in contrast, and I laughed when I saw Camilla's (I swear that's not her name, but she reminds me of the classic lesbian vampire story by the same name) boobs. I liked the challenges in Conquest. But I'm never touching that game again. I fell like such an ass the entire way through. >.< I'll stick to the happy ending in Birthright/Revelations.

I'm playing the Special Edition, and even just the beginning made me feel like a butt, when the Nohr king commands you to stomp all over prisoners. I can't imagine being an awful criminal in that one for the whole game. Also, I suck at tactical strategy games, so it's Birthright, thank you very much.

Birthright is along the lines of The Sacred Stones and Awakening. Conquest is along the lines of Thracia 776 and Radiant Dawn.

It may be unlikely to happen, but if I were to remaster one 3DS game for the Wii U or NX, I'd chose Fire Emblem Fates, as "Fire Emblem Fates: Complete." I think Fates would be more worthy of a remaster for the NX than Awakening, possibly using Unity 5 engine or Unreal Engine 4. Fates pushed the 3DS to the technical limits, but Awakening did not. It would include all three versions in one package, but Revelation would have to be unlocked by completing both Birthright and Conquest, which would both be available by default if you start the game on Hard difficulty or higher or on Normal Classic. However, starting the game on Normal Casual or Phoenix would lock you to Birthright. Your existing save data from the 3DS game could be transferred to the NX remaster. If they make a brand new Fire Emblem game on the NX, there should be a feature where you could transfer Awakening and Fates characters as Einherjars to the new game, but for a price via in-game currency.

Yeah but you're getting basically different games. Unlike Pokemon where the story stay the same just with different or same team and some Pokemon here and there, where FE Fates have different elements, story, characters, and difficulty. Not like Pokemon. Yeah it's the same story basically but 2 different sides of it.

It's worse than Pokemon. In Pokemon it's more or less the same no matter which you choose, you're not missing out on anything too significant, just a handful of Pokemon. In this, you're losing half the story.

Yes! Very surprised considering Awakening had it AND that the digital version is bigger than the Japanese version. People guessed it was because of the extra audio files.

+Griffnix I think there were problems with the Japanese version of "Lost in Thoughts All Alone" and the devs didn't want a game spoken in Japanese but with an English song scattered about. This lead to no dual audio.

If this is your first time playing Fire Emblem I would probably get Birthright and when you undoubtedly end up loving the game you can get Conquest half off in game and play through that one.

Yes. However, if you get one version, you could get the others on the eshop for half price. If you enjoyed both Birthright and Conquest, you can get a third path where you refuse to choose a side

Except one thing, "Knights" have better equipment than "Samurais". "Knight" armor is heavier and their swords are meant to pierce trough armor, while "Samurai" armor is weaker AND while their swords are better for weak armor, they lose agaisnt good armor.

+Tripp Fields I think when you get to that point, the game offers you the other campaign at half price so you can 'explore your fates.' I still think that the chapters leading up to that point should be a free demo, though.

+Zack Arin I know, I was bummed. Cause I'm a living spoiler, so I know that no matter who you pick, the shit hits the fan. As a result I wanted nothing to do with anyone. I wanted to save everyone. I'm playing Birthright, but whenever I can get the chance I'm recruiting Nohrian character units to make myself feel better about the inevitability of my situation. So far the only one I've got is Elise, but I'll work on that.

Zack Arin I recruited her Einderjar (or whatever it's called) in my Birthright file. I later went, "eh, screw it" and downloaded the Conquest campaign and the other DLC. Much as it bugs me, I've decided I'm willing to put up with playing the game twice, only because I felt bad for both sides. BTW: When you pick Nohr the Hoshidans lay into you much worse for it than the opposite. Granted, in Birthright Camilla goes yandere and well let's just say I failed to not kill some people I probably wasn't supposed to kill.

I had a huge concern! if anyone can help me! ^_^ I bought the special edition Fates which includes the 3 paths. So i started the conquest path in one save file - once i finish conquest and start birthright should i save on top of my last file? - should i play birthright and conquest simultaneously in different files? I'm just confused as to the save file system since many times in Fire emblem once you finish the game you can save on top of the same save file and start again with bonuses. Thank you for any kind soul who helps me with my concern! ^_^

+D.C. Stranded (Mr. Wright) If you've played Awakening beforehand and already know the mechanics of the game, Conquest won't be devastatingly disastrous. The issue here though is that Awakening had fairly easy objectives that were almost ALWAYS "route the enemy" while in Conquest, you may need to defend a fort or capture one and etc. Honestly, if you feel like you can handle it go for it.

+Erika Nebergall it was released along with the other versions but I don't know if it was only for a limited time. last I heard though was that it was a little hard to find copies but I'm sure that's changed now. but I hope you find one ^-^ and no problem. As for the multi-player I'm not too sure. I never played the Awakening MP so I don't have a reference but there is an option for multi-player in FE:F along with castle invasions. I'm sorry if I couldn't be more help, I just got into this wonderful series last year.

I played Conquest first and felt challenged on normal. I'm currently sleepwalking through birthright on normal and refusing to do grinding because it would be too easy. I'm only on chapter 9 though so that could change, but I accidentally won the first chapter of the birthright path and I'm not very good at strategy games.
