Instagram- AdamTheWooATW I had a slight doubt that the self titled album cover wall looked like it could be a tad off . After reading some comments it appears I wasn’t alone . It’s tough to match up 40 year old walls but seems like I was on opposite side of the little garden from where it was . Anyone in the area should go confirm and document it . Clearly the opinions online are incorrect

I think you have the wall right. It is that side, however, if you were to go to 9:14 in your video, do you see in the upper right corner of that capture the indentation (the line of protruding brick) in the wall? Perhaps those plants were not there and this is where they might have stood. What do you think?

Im a lifelong New Yorker. I once was walking by the club just as Hilly was opening the doors at about noon. I asked him if I could hang out and have a few beers, and I wouldn't bother him. We walked in and I drank some beers as he did paperwork and made phone calls. I was quiet and didn't bother him. I had the whole place to myself and walked around. Great memory.

I went to rehab in 1988 with Joey. We shared a shrink Dr Jaeger. Holliswood Hospital. Is that a good thing? I don’t know about Joey but I’m clean 34 years and a few months. Moved out of nyc to SC 7 years ago. Don’t miss it one bit. I remember those places you’re showing. Littered with needles and vomit etc. So glad God helped me through it and I’m still alive 🤩😘

Having been to CBGB's music venue countless times and spent my late teens/20s in the Queens neighborhood when several of the Ramones lived there, I really appreciate this tour of the East Village. For old-timers like me, the birthplace/soul of punk is Tompkins Square Park, several blocks east of where you were. Thanks for the great vlog!

I once went to the old CBGB. The employees allowed me to take pictures but I put the camera in the trunk of my car and it was February and the cold damaged the film. I had a picture of the old bathroom and of one of the Gabba Gabba Hey signs. When I was outside, a woman offered to show me where the picture from the first album was taken. It was 9 pm and a stranger was taking me through the area in the dark to show me the location. You are pretty accurate with that brick wall. I had to look through the fence to see it. Thank you Adam. Great video!

Hey Adam!! This is an awesome video!! I had the pleasure of playing CBGB’s several times. Such a beautiful, dive bar with so much history. It sounded amazing in there and stickers and signatures of some great underground and mainstream bands!! It’s really cool!! Great video!! The load in must’ve been for signed bands because we always had to park in front and run our gear in before we got a ticket!! Let’s just say the city of NY got a good amount of parking ticket money from me. Lol!! Glad you got to see it!!

Yes. I remember helping a friend and his band mates loading in through the front. We sat there for hours in a basically empty venue waiting to go on. "You guys are next" is all we kept hearing. Midnight came around and they finally told us. No deal, come back another night maybe. Sucked, but that's just the way it was. The bathroom was epic. The hallway leading to it looked like something out of a horror movie. Saw the biggest rat I've ever seen crawl out of the wall in there. 😂

You missed the Bad Brains Mural across the street from CBGB’s that just went up. And to bad you didn’t stay or go back to queens (Forest Hills) there is the famous and dedication mural of the Ramones, there is also where one of their first practice spaces was. Also, That concrete Marking outside of cb’s was later on added to mark the area. And you never loaded in in the back of cb’s you always loaded in the front because you could never get back there because of all the trash, glass, rebar, and such!

Adam ... I just posted a comment on yesterday's video to you. But today you are covering the Ramones . In the early 80's I would hang out at Shea Stadium and get autographs on the side of the seats and who would hang out with me alot but none other then Johnny Ramone some nights he would say I can't stay long because I have a concert tonight. LOL .In the 90's I would see him at Baseball card shows and again he would not be not recognized but only by me as we knew each other.

*Dear Woo, that 90 degree corner in the brick leads me to question if that was really the wall the photo was taken in front of. I can't see any reason why the brickwork would have been changed and it doesn't look like it was changed either, Enlarging the image appears to show writing on the side of the projection as well so I don't believe it is just an optical illusion. Also, the foundation the bricks are resting on seems notably higher than the current image. Who knows but still a cool city garden find!* 10:08

Well Hello!!! So much enjoyed this video... Went from 20 minutes outside NYC to Tampa My son is a musician and opened for the Misfits and we knew Marky Ramone and cooked burgers with Jerry Only, I'm more of a Blondie fan but the blocks you visited is home to us! Thanks for the video!

HEY ATW...YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE RAMONES BEING an original influence on punk! I remember hearing them for the first time in and around 1980. This episode was great! Your step counter must ready to explode!!

It’s nice to see your video but also makes me sad and yearn for the gritty days of the 70’s New York. The Ramones were great and have achieved a mainstream audience now but we that know them in their hey day will never forget them. I got to see them once at the state fair in Detroit. Not their heyday but at least I can say I saw them. Gabba gabba hey!

Had a striking thought to see how big cbgbs was. Haven’t seen a woo video in a while. Ramones are also one of my favorites. Appreciate the crossover and history

I was there in the 80's during a friend's band album release event. The designer who the store is from Detroit, I believe, and has said he is a rock and roll designer so he would preserve the history.

There is so much to see and visit in NYC that it would probably take 5 or 6 trips to see everything

Great vlog Adam. But you were also standing right outside the legendary A7 club which was the stomping ground for a lot of early hardcore bands. It is now a bar but bears a plaque with a list of frequented hardcore bands on their wall. The bar is now called Niagara, corner of Ave A and 7th (Tompkins Square Park)

I love your video, I am planning on going to NYC next year with the kids and surely I will be going to most of the places you showed on the video, thanks for that!!! I was also born in 1974, July 31st .... I was being created at same time as the whole band, and also same as you ... there should be something ..... Greetings from Spain.
