Now we know why NS derails so often: they employed pink teddy bears as engineers.
@archiebunker7688
@archiebunker7688 9 ай бұрын
No teddy bear story here but I recall a pair of purple panties that floated around a locomotive shop floor. There was only one female in the locomotive shop and she always toted a gym bag so they must have fallen out at some point or some hanky panty was going on it was never exactly common knowledge but eventually the purple panties showed up on an inflatable doll!!! This is true, all true. Well a newlywed 3rd shift guy was having troubles with his new democrat feminazi wife and took the doll home one day panties and all and when his wife was out late drinking before he left for work that night he slipped the doll in their bed and tucked her in like any new husband would do, knowing his drunken democrat wife would be coming home and discover. That morning the new wife/ex-wife became a white tornado, The End.😮 Another day in the locomotive shop one of the sportsman, an inspector, had a way with collecting pigeons in an overhead no longer used enclosed catwalk that connected buildings- he would find them roosting and with a sneaky well placed finger to the birds breast, he put them to sleep and took home for his hunting retrievers to train on. Anyway there was an older guy in the shop kind of a good natured jokester and during a lunchbreak the sportsman inspector had stuffed the older guys locker full of pigeons and the whole shop knew this and secretly watch as the situation moved along. Lunchtime was over and when the old guy opened his locker door those pigeons flew out like a sign from above and the old guy knew he'd been had- again! The time before that was a dead goose the sportsman brought in and laid on the old guys Sterrett polished granite inspection table. That time the old guy totally ignored the goose as he went about inspecting a brass contact switchgear he just machined but I did see his eyes glance up and he scanned the shop for the perpetrators and cracked a grin of approval. He sadly has since passed on.

Why are all of the “BNSF” logos blurred out? It’s pretty obvious what they are. Around 1995, a coworker and myself got to take a tour of the Souther Pacific Diesel Locomotive Servicing Facility on the Northside edge of downtown Houston. It was a huge place and a really cool experience. Sometimes during lunch, I would ride my motorcycle over there and just watch all of the locomotive traffic. Unfortunately, after UP bought SP, it was closed down some years later, leveled and new condominiums erected there in its place. Sometimes, “progress”, isn’t always progress in my opinion.

If I heard him right, BNSF logos weren’t scratched out, it was the old original ATSF logo on the computer screen cases. Not even on the exterior of the locomotives.
@turnerdeedo4633
@turnerdeedo4633 9 ай бұрын
@@Maximilian7992 Well I think it's another one of those cases where because of how the United State's legal system works, BNSF can get away with it here. Any crime has to be proven without reasonable doubt, and technically there is reasonable doubt that this was a BNSF shop, because you can't see any logos. Any defense lawyer could say that was another railroad's shop, like CPKC or WFRX, two railroads who have many patched BNSF units, and there really wouldn't be a way to prove the guy wrong.

There once was a skunk living out in the hump yards, back in the early 1970's. It got run over and was stinking pretty bad. Some clown picked up the body and placed it by the air intake of the old air tubes that way bills and such were passed between Willis yard and various other offices. When a canister was sent, the stink was pumped to Willis yard and man what a problem that was for the clerks and pencil pushers. Notices were posted everywhere to not pull that shit anymore.

As an automotive mechanic, it's great to know that mechanics of all machines are all the same slightly childish, sarcastic smart asses. The butter reminded me of the time (someone who shall remain nameless) turned our cheetah cannon into an air powered, socket firing death mortar. And ended up blasting a 3/4 in socket through the shop wall at 100psi lol.

Didn’t get a chance to watch this the first time around, but the nature of this video reminds me a lot of when my late grandfather, who was a 4th generation railroader with the Grand Trunk Western, pulled some strings with some of his former coworkers and took my dad and I down to the Flint RIP track when I was a kid. Ended up getting a few gifts from the crew including a blank GTW bad order card dated 1972/1977! To this day, that bad order is one of my favorite pieces of railroad paperwork, second only to my CN-Grand Trunk District operating rules dated December 1998 (the month and year I was born)

Cool vid and tour. Love seeing the Santa Fe paint these days (there's one that resides here in Williston in local service, in fact) after all these years. I have fond memories of filling in on a dedicated run at the first trucking company I worked for back in 93... Got to hook up to one of BN's trailer in West Burlington, haul traction motors and parts out to Lincoln, then go out to Alliance (along NE2, of course) and return. Still remember shooting photos of an old E unit in West Burlington on the condition of being careful lol. Times have changed a lot... Thanks for sharing this.

Okay now this is just awesome! Makes me wonder what all is hidden around the Juniata shops here in Altoona in some of the buildings and such, if only I could look around, a while back a Dash-9 or AC44 went by with a Conrail long hood door, so now I'm wondering if there's just a stockpile of old Conrail parts still around 😂 it's unfortunate that railroads have to be so secretive, but I guess it makes sense because of safety and liabilities. Anyways, I loved watching this, I'm glad you could get into there, seems very exciting, I'd love to know what some of those guys think of the older stuff that shows up.

In terms of paint, they don’t care if it’s a fallen flag, an oddball, or faded H2; it’s a locomotive all the same. Generally they like working on older equipment because it’s simpler, more intuitive, and more reliable.
