I used to stay in marewa but go down to the bball courts at Fitzgerald park. And there was a pad right next to the park where mob members used to drink outside and watch us jam especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Would always go hard when they were watching because the commentary from them was priceless 😂 man, fond memories down in maraenui for sure.

Came to Sydney in '82 and had 9 son's and 3 daughter's. Only arrest in the whanau was me in '83. My greatest act, was keeping 9 Maori tama growing up in Sydney out of trouble. I'm a 'No Buts' falla like my father and koro. Teach them why thinking in absolute terms is important. Eventually they all arrive at the conclusion that the Bible is true and God is watching. Love your mahi bro. 🙏👊💪🇳🇿

Thank you for your video. I was born in LA but my mom was born and raised in Hastings. My mom spent 18 years over in LA , during that time met my father, created a family and along the way faced some trials that led us to move to NZ . Its now been 25 years since that move and i couldn't thank my mom enough for making that decision for the family. Have lived in Hastings, havelock north , Camberley , flaxmere and Napier .. now in Central Hawkes Bay . One thing i have noticed no matter if its a gang member over in LA or here in Aotearoa ..they all have the same thing in common... they believe/believed that gang life was the way to help themselves or there family. To feel valued , respect and to feel they have a greater purpose then what was previously available to them . Theres no greater concern then thinking you have no other options , you do what you feel you have to with the tools presented . This life as hard as it is sometimes is the perfect play arena for your souls journey..love hard, be present, be humble and never give up xx Much love and admiration for you my bro ❤️

Back in those days you had to earn the colour to wear it. Tipene and west side hori is how we all grew up, we all thought it was normal until we grew up with the realisation how bad it was. I went to Ebbett park school heretaunga and then hastings boys high then fostered out to waipawa and went to Central Hawkes bay college.Camberly remember the houstons they used to let me have lunch at their house everyday of school I remember haviong cheese and jam samwiches. The albert hotel across the road from the old cafe food store everyone went to on dole day we used to get our tinnies from the Albert Hotel. I used to sleep under the bushes at cornwall park next to the glass house under the trees. I wonder if Marleen and Bruce live in Flaxmere. We used to call Flaxmere Blaxmere back in the day Your bringing back some memories. I left and went to live on the streets of auckland in 1980 at the age of 15 I was living on the streets in hastings apparently I was the first streetkid in Hastings living in cornwall park and it a carpark by the old woolworths and the bowling club. I remember living in a kids park fort in Flaxmere and my friend Staffy and his Mum Carol(R.I.P) took me in and gave me a home and somewhere to lay my head Staying at the Wirihanas they looked after me for a while in flaxmere. Carol took in other streetkids apparently I was her first streetkid resident and she helped others afterwards. Man memories for me totally makeing me now think about my childhood. What are the roughest hoods outside of Auckland would you say if u had to give a top 5
@hohepa3197
@hohepa3197 7 ай бұрын
@@stephenheatley9380 #1 Opotiki - it has the highest homicide rate and violent crime rate in the country #2 Wairoa - most notorious "gang town" in all of nz and gang warfare that stretches decades back, while only being tiny. #3 Kawerau/Murupara - Kawerau's a town controlled by MM and is basically an extension of Whakatane which is a BP stronghold causing tons of tension. Murupara's a very rural type of rough and is home to the tribesmen. Probably one of the visually roughest n poorest towns I've been but it has cleaned quite a bit recently. #4 Gisborne - one of the biggest hoods in nz and a centre point for east coast gangs. #5 Rotorua - highest crime rate city in nz. There's actually some decent places in rotos but recently tons of crimz have moved into Ford block's motels which are being used as emergency housing that was originally used by/for backpackers before Covid hit..... There's some actual 3rd world looking towns I would've added to the list but they're just too small and rural to be called a hood or whatever.

I was born in Hastings and grew up in Flaxmere until I was 6. My Dad's parents owned and lived in a nice house on Flaxmere Ave for decades. It is known to be the 'flash' part of Flaxmere. Almost everywhere else in Flaxmere is considered to be 'the hood'. My parents were very young (17 and 19) when they had me. My Mum's parents owned a house on Cartier Cres where we lived together and I remember the house was broken into many times. I went to Peterhead until my Mum brought me to Australia to get away from my Dad (lol) which is ironic because he ended up joining us anyway. My Dad was locked up at Mangaroa Prison a few times and my Aunty (his side - Nan's sister) was a screw there. Yes, and she would be working while he was locked up there. I've lived in Sydney since 2002 but I've been back quite a few times for different reasons. I have A LOT of family on both sides that still live in and around Flaxmere, Hastings, Havelock North and Napier. My Mum's side that still live there are either Mongrel Mob or affiliated. I also have a lot of family (on both sides) that are buried at Mangaroa, so I always look forward to coming back to see them and visit the cemetery. I knew DAMN well when this vid starts that you're standing at Te Mata Peak. 😅 Thank you for doing this :) and God bless!

Chhuurr mean watch brother, we too nearly fell victim to the street life growing up, blessed to have our grandparents who tried their hardest to guide us towards the light, sadly as they do they passed away (2 out of 4) but that's when reality hit and the realization that no one but ourselves can help us! That's us at the 29 minute mark trying our hardest to make something of our lives. So non hit us up if you need your lawns done haha. Jah Jah Whānau. R.I.L Kuzzie Darcy ❤️💛💚
