Wow great video and a great company that backs their products. On my first set of aluminum rim Hunt Aero Wide wheels I had an issue when servicing them where I damaged the axle (my fault) it was still usable (from memory I cracked the hex head from incorrect disassembly) and I contacted Hunt during a weekend here in NZ via their instant messaging, the rep was extremely helpful and said he would send me out a replacement right away, no charge. Only a few days later a new axle, 5x new bearings, a Hunt bidon and a Hunt cycle cap arrived, no charge. These wheels are still going strong and I've since added another two Hunt wheelsets to my gravel bike and my disc brake road bike. Contrast this to another company like Rudy Project that I contacted about a pair of their cycling glasses after their brittle frames snapped after only a months use, they said I must of stored them on the dash board of my car because their frames were not brittle and shouldn't break blah blah blah and just fobbed me off. Thank you Hunt.

the insight is that people don't think Hunt's is legit because they have a lower price point and offshore manufacturing. they want us to see that there is real science and engineering behind what they've built and they are willing to pay for an advertorial to do so. It isn't because the concerns about their product quality are aligned with reality, but rather because perception informs reality. They have a brand problem and this advertorial is a solid way to address the primary consumer concerns about their products. I believe they have sold me on their products. Now - i just have to decide between their different tiers

48 limitless are extremely heavy, but very fast. Still aero with 32mm tires at 34.XXmm WAM. It’s because of the weight that they are my least used of the wheelsets that I own. The majority of the range needs to be updated with 21mm+ internal rim widths. They have the right idea with wide external rim measurements but they need to improve the tire to rim transition while still remaining Hooked. Hookless makes the wheel system as a whole HEAVIER, not lighter as marketing suggests. A hooked lightweight 25mm Internal wheel would be great. Make it 32mm external so 28mm tires can balloon out to 30mm. Make it like the Ascent Polaris 42mm but with a 25mm rim bed!

It would be interesting to actually also see something about how they are actually made and not just how they are designed. @pigeonpoo1823 Жыл бұрын
@@dorohmc correct, 34 aero wide. I've had them since April 2018. Went from Fulcrum Quattro and Shimano Ultegra wheels. Narrow rim widths, so both with 25mm tyres lightbulbed. Rode 80ish psi with GP4000, now 55psi tubeless. the comfort improvement was so immediate I sold the 2 wheelsets. I have mavic aksiums for winter, hence no Hunt wheel issues as they never see rain. As for ride impressions. Well they're light and responsive and, most importantly, fun! Highly highly recommend them. On a side note, I got a pair of Mavic Ksyrium Pro's (alu) and they are a higher quality. Smoother bearings. Even lighter. Definitely noticeable. Worth twice the price? Definitely not. But a nice luxury. I've now got 30mm on the Hunt's and on my steel bike, so the comfort level is wonderful. Used regularly. Tubeless or clincher? Hahaha no comment. I think they're a superb wheelset, and I don't qualify that by saying 'for the price.' you will not be disappointed. Anyway, as you can hopefully tell, I have a lot of praise and enthusiasm for the Hunt's. If you want to know any more, feel free to ask

I like my Hunt wheels and i have almost 9k miles on them but I just wish they shipped them with tighter spoke tension. I'm a heavier rider pushing 200lbs. The first time I rode them, I had 100psi in 25mm tires and it got wobbly on me. Once I put 10psi less and tightened the spokes at 90psi, they stay much more true. Every now and then I still have to retighten them if I use less than 90 psi because the tension just isn't there to stabilize it enough. Also they do get dirty and dusty pretty quickly so I wish they had been finished with a clear coat. My only other gripe is that they hold water like a camel. I think the pin hole needs to be larger and closer to the edge. For the price, I really can't complain though. The carbon seems to be pretty bullet proof with all the potholes and cracks where i live

So confusing! I placed an order of 44/54 aerodynamicist to replace my Giant SLR 1 42mm, but after finding a ton of negative reviews I filled out a return form. It's hard to know what to do. Should I keep them or return them without even trying them? They are on their way. Reviewing a ton of wheels my Giant SLR 1 at the end of all seem very light in comparison with many and pretty decent build but I only had 3 rides w/ them. I'm only annoyed that they come hookless thus I'm very limited in tire choices. I'd also like to run a deeper wheel in the rear. That's why 44/54 combo that Hunt offers w/ current 20% discount seemed like a great deal.

I hear Farsports is the factory Hunt contracted to build the wheels. The Chinese brands are getting better at building carbon wheels. Since companies like Hunt taught them all of the trade secrets. The Chinese have now gotten better at manufacturing carbon. That they are now coming up with their original carbon wheels design that is better and cheaper than western brands.

@@iMadrid11 there’s a strong and credible rumor that everyone at Winspace is basically ex sram/enve employees. Not really surprised considering how good their wheels are. I got a 2023 pair of the d67 and they’re like rockets. Carbon spokes. I also own roval Terras on my gravel rig. Winspace isn’t that much cheaper than roval or zipp though honestly, so it’s hard to pick Winspace over zipp due to warranty. Has Hunt dropped the ball? What of Paul over at Mapdec discovering a rash of cracked nipples, not one but several? This appears to be a serious engineering error, best case. Worst case Hunt knew of the issue and did nothing to address it. Imo Hunt should be avoided for the time being. Let's see how they handle this situation... and whether it shows on additional wheels.

Ordered a set of "Team Edition HUNT 44 Aerodynamicist Carbon Disc Wheelset". They came scratched and had different spokes then described on the website. Hunt said, oh, that was a failure on the website, there are no aero spokes on these aero wheels. Made complete sence to me. Send the wheels back, got another pair after weeks of waiting. Had to tell Hunt better put a plastic bag around the wheels so they wont get scratched again. Second pair had a big scratch on the hub even so they where well protected this time, so they has to have been scratched before transfer. I thouh, well its a minor thing, put the wheels in the bike without tyres to check them out, and oh my gosh they where out of true. Contacted Hund again, took them weeks to answer again, just to tell me, well use a sharpie for the blemish of the hub and go to a mechanic to let the wheels true. What a brand, what a service. Thank you so much. Ah and as if its not enough, when you want to send the wheels back you can not simply go to DHL or elsewhere with a retoursticker, oh no, you have to stay at home and wait for UPS to pick them up.

I think it is somehow different and they develop their designs for the rim, then they go to a producer in China and the Chinese produce the rims and send them back to hunt, but furthermore they are being assholes and produce a lot more and sell it themselves without going through all the engineering process.
@benfinesilver2250 Жыл бұрын
@@xtianeskay5166 It really isn’t any different. I’ve been told by Farsports themselves. You can buy other configurations that they didn’t take from the factory. So many brands are the same. Hunt assemble in parts in the UK and by law can say “Made in the UK”. The worst company for this are Revolver (sponsored Alex Dowsett). Again Farsports factory, no different to Hunt. 4 times the price and marketed with fake graphs as being “the fastest wheels in the world” 😆
@alxie Жыл бұрын
The majority of UK bike brands don't actually make their products in the UK, they work on the design, tech specs and assembly, but at the end everything is made in Asia. You can buy a "UK designed frame" here where the frame is built in Italy but all tubbings actually come from a factory in China, so I don't understand the criticism. Surely the most important bit is the design and tech spec part, together with quality control, no?
@alxie Жыл бұрын
Another example from the tech industry: would you criticise let's say, an Apple phone because it's assembled in China? Because it's chips are made in Taiwan? Because the PCB boards come from India? The intellectual work still comes from the engineers who worked on the projects, just like with these Hunt wheels.

I'll add for a comparison, that we did a 'coast' test down several hills on a club ride, and my six year old Hed RC6s were faster than 1-2 year old Hunts (don't know the exact model) every time. I think the difference is probably the bearings. Similar bikes Bianchi Infinito CV (Heds) and a Colnago V3RS (Hunts). Both rim brake, similar kits and helmets, and tuck profile. I could actually sit up a bit from a full tuck and go as fast as my friend. Also, Hed manufactures the wheels in Minnesota, I've been to the factory and had the tour. Anne Hed actually offered to give my wife and I a ride to our hotel as we waited on the taxi. Just a thought.
