In the fall and winter you can still see how high the water was. It's stained into the tree trunks. So if you're ever near the Cape Fear river in the winter and see trees that are two different colors....that's why.

THANK YOU WRAL , ALL of you who put yourself in harms way to keep me apprized at whats was going on where my 11 y/o son was at the time of Florence! He was right there off of freedom way in Hubert . I was 180 miles away unfortunately, i was able to find his father and my son the very last hotel with power, only AFTER his father decided it was too dangerous for them where they were. At 3am ! I was so upset at his decisions, however, my son came away from all of this unscaved thank God and y'all kept me updated on where the flood waters were, and everything else that a mom needed yo know as she was almost 200 miles away. So thank you 🙏❤️

The mother and baby that were the first to pass away when the tree fell on the house, was my moms old co-worker. It’s sad and the whole room was silent when it happened

I lived in Swansborro NC..we were one of the worst hit areas. I have lived through many a hurricane, tropical storms and Nor- Easters and I will say one thing. I have never seen anything like this storm ever.

I live in Pender County and this video doesn't even begin to touch the devastation, mainly the flooding. A lot of homes were submerged up to the roof line. Hwy 421, a heavily traveled highway, was completely washed out in one area.

Florence was terrifying to experience, then seeing the damage it caused. I cannot being to comprehend how much more serious it would have been if it struck as a Cat 4 as predicted.

Damn, that sucks. Hopefully you guys are doing well. That storm wouldn't have done much inland (the coast would have still felt tons of impacts) had it moved like most storms of it's size BUT it kept storming and raining in the same areas over and over and over and over............it was too much. Even inland flooded a lot. It is one storm that I will never forget.
