HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOT, its the only mid height boot along with the pilgrim that worked for me, ive tried lowa, saloman etc you name it, they all have very high arch support/narrow in the mid area. So i found my arches aching from other boots and these have a gentle slope that would suit any shape and enough space in the mid area not to be squeezed in. it may be light but its not as soft as salomans which are more suited to light use or in urban areas. so it can work both as a standard boot and an urban one. it still has adequate rigidity while not being overly stiff If your struggling to find boots that fit you well and are also sticky and light, pilgrims and selvaticas are highly highly recommended

update after 3months of extensive use. + Overall boot fits well and no hot spots during speed marching or tabbing! +/- Goretex does a fantastic job but as it is a mid length boot water is prone to entering and then you have your own foot swimming pool. - Lace up is quick but tends to loosen off during tabbing. Grip is good either on land or ships steel.

I think AKU Selvatica is not waterproof well. The thumb position of my sock is wet on rainy days. Do you have this situation

Gagging for these to come back in Brown, can’t really get away with the Coyote at work. Any idea if they plan to restock this colourway as shown?

Inside 10.5cm, outside 15cm. This does depend on size though (I measured a size 8). Harry

I have pretty slim heels and these fit me well. That's not to say they're guaranteed to fit you, but they're worth trying on. Harry

I have had mine for a while now. I think they are maybe slightly leaking (less its my feet getting hot). I do sometimes force dry them though,in a airing cupboard ,or under a radiator). Could it compromise bonding resins?. I was going to get some Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid TF Boots!.

It could well be your feet getting hot, but forcing them dry is not something we would recommend as that can definitely compromise the footwear and introduce the potential for them to leak. We would always recommend you let them dry naturally and care for your footwear with the correct products to ensure the best lifespan possible for them.

If it's sommething with a similar aesthetic to the Selvatica and Zephyr boots that you've mentioned we don't have that many options other than the Aku Pilgrim which is a sturdier boot from Aku's military collection. Other than that we would recommend taking a look at the La Sportiva Tx5 or Tx4 Evo Mid Boots, they don't share the same look at the Aku boots, but you should get on with them from a comfort and end-use point of view.@@DJJAW11

Traditionally a size UK 9 would measure around 26.6cm. Harry

What do you recommend for hiking long distances with a heavy pack ? ( I want waterproof and breathable and able to dry fast when they do get wet )

It's completely dependant on fit. I could recommend X or Y, but without physically seeing your feet, you'd probably end up with some painful feet after a few miles. I'd recommend visiting us (or your local outdoor shop if we're too far away) to arrange a proper boot fit. Harry

AKU is indeed based in Italy and still makes boots there. But the Italian facility is too small to handle larger production so they use other factories across the globe; as do pretty much any other boot manufacturer! Thanks for watching.

How do they perform during a few-days long, high-intensive hiking? How do they perform during warm or rainy/wet weather?

We've not personally used these for multi-day hiking yet, but their intended use is for fast & light activities, whether that's a day, a week or a few months at a time. In terms of breathability, they'll be superior to most other Gore-Tex lined alternatives thanks to their air8000 construction, but not as breathable as something without a waterproof membrane. Hi, I walk often 15-20 km a day with a backpack of around 20kg. I love the shoes and they held up good (have them around for a couple of months now). Only difference is that The Netherlands is very flat so I don't have the experience with hiking yet. Hope this helps

Jak się sprawują w cieplejszych porach roku wiosna, lato gdzie temperatury oscylują w okolicach 20-25 stopni? Noga się nie topi? Producent wspomina o zastosowaniu materiału zwanego AIR8000 i pytanie czy to rzeczywiście działa czy to tylko hasło marketingowe. Sama cholewka ma dużo tych wstawek 'gumowych' więc nie wygląda na jakąś mega przewiewną. 2. Czy but jest wąski na szerokości? W jednej recenzji dosłuchałem się że niby dopasowuje się do stopy w tym zakresie. Czy ten podniesiony zapiętek nie przeszkadza podczas chodzenia? Z ważniejszych pytań to chyba tyle, mogę jeszcze jedynie poprosić o jakąś ogólną opinie czy jesteś z nich zadowolony i czy byś je kupił drugi raz :P pozdro

Just bought a pair thinking it's a product made back home and fully EU manufactured. They're made in Vietnam :( So, no, 230€ on Aku's website is not a guarantee that it is EU made, they are made in Asia just like the much cheaper alterra lite.

But you will enjoy wearing them. Mine have been excellent and comfortable for every day wear. However, I found the sole (particularly the heel) to wear down very easily. The lugs on the heel are hollow. That was pretty disappointing, considering the price. Uppers remain in excellent condition, so wear them much less now so I can use them for longer.
