I have the Imperial version of this dryer from 1963 in turquoise that’s still working. This is the older style of Whirlpool dryers since the older models from 1965 and earlier had a perforated drum back and the ones from 1966 and later don’t have the perforated drum back. This dryer has the same 2 speed blower as mine and switches the wattage of the element from 5600 to 4500 watts on the normal speed drying temperature along with the speed of blower from 3000 rpms to 2000 rpms as well. My 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII set may be the only one that’s known since I’ve literally seen no others like it around after years of searching since I am a collector of this stuff.

So good to hear you have a running unit! I so hated knowing this one was going to the scrap yard. I would have loved to get it running or found someone, such as a collector as yourself, but Mom really needed the space and I had none to spare. Thank you so much for sharing your machine!

@@AlsAutoandAppliance I would have parted it out, there were still good parts that were left over such as the heating element, motor, blower/fan, drum, bulkhead, idler pulley, lint screen, timer, and many other parts that were still good after all these years. I actually could have used a few of those parts myself but this is probably long gone :(

@@seana806 I know. I did search the internet for collectors forums, but as I mentioned before, there was just no place to store it. Being a person who loves to keep old things running, scrapping this was one of the most gut-wrenching things I've ever done. :(

If I did a cobra video, it would be the suggested video for home and garden audiences...you know...since it's an expensive storage shelf.

It would have been really cool if a family of angry raccoons came screaming out of that thing :-)

Is this a play on me being near-miss prone? lol. No animals were found or harmed during this video.
