Hey josh, I recently bought a couple of bulk shoe lots from an online auction company and without thinking I didn't have the space to store them all to be seen at all times. I had a few massive clear bins laying around so I used plastic bags to put the shoes in and numbered the bags. I then put those bags within the bins and labeled the bins. In my ads I simply put the bag number and bin label in the description and once they sold, I was amazed about how easy it was to pick the shoes. I was able to fit close to 50 pairs of shoes into each bin and have been able to stack them five bins high. I believe they are 112L bins however I could be wrong about the size, they are just the largest ones Walmart / Home Depo sells. I feel like that might be a good alternative for you considering the lack of space you have in your garage and the amount of shoes you typically have for sale at any time. Hope the idea helps!

Such and easy solution. He just needs to go and spend some money on good quality metal wire shelving. They are not cheap but you need to just spend the money and then use the bins / bags idea.

Not with new shoes. I once bought like 60 pairs of shoes at Ross anual liquidation sales. And made the mistake of putting them in bins. And many shoes developed bends pressed next to each other and kind of lowered the value on them.

Hey Josh and Hailey! Last week I had 2 back to back returns, one for a $100. Also a Disney music box that worked fine at the garage sale that comped for around $90 broke when I opened the battery compartment. Thanks to you guys (and other resellers), I took it in stride and chalked up to the cost of doing business. Thanks for giving us resellers some perspective!

An alternative to pool noodles, but similar in idea, are plumbing pipe foam wrap tubes. They often come in bags, are about the size of pool noodles and like noodles, are often put on clearance at the end of season or can even be found in the goodwill. They’re just not as colorful!

I have made a franken box out of the long triangle priority boxes, to ship large golf drivers. It is pretty easy to make a square with two of them, and if you need the box to be longer, just cut one in half and make a square cap. works great and with practice only takes about 5 minutes or less.

Have you considered Rubbermaid FastTrack shelving for you shoe storage? The system is sold at Lowes. You basically buy vertical bars that mount to your wall, then you buy shelf brackets that hook into the vertical bars, then a mesh shelf that sits on and connects to the brackets. It isn't the cheapest solution, but it will hold all of your shoes without having to cut any wood. I have used it in my closets for years and it is a really good system.

Shoe storage: we just use plastic bins for loose (unboxed) shoe, like your lettered bins. Has the advantages of utilizing space better and keeping the dust off clean shoes. Boxed shoes simply get stacked on the same shelf. I like metro style racks best, since even when loaded the py can be equipped with casters to wheel around. Your new shelves are MDF (medium density fiberboard) aka Particle Board.

Your bin lettering system is a simpler, but similar system to mine, but one thing I do is pull a partially empty bin off the rack and have it open, over by my laptop to set items directly in as I list. Then when that one is full, I go get another with empty space and repeat. Having a bin I’m filling out of the rack and close at hand saves me steps carrying items to the bin rack each time.

I do the same thing with shipping... I limit it to GSP & the lower 48 states, etc... but in addition to that I made $5, $10, $15 flat rate shipping fee profiles. So, for stuff under a pound it's usually free, jeans & shoes is $5, VCR's is $10, and large boxes of cookware sets or heavier/larger things gets $15. Doesn't cover all the costs, but I think it's better than eating it all or having to charge the buyer for all of it which could turn them off from buying it in the first place.

Hey Josh, I've been kinda prepackaging everything into whatever box or mailer that the items fit. I'm trying to have everything ready to just print labels and go. Part of the reason I'm dying this is because I've got absolutely kids that like to get into things. Having them prepackaged seems to deter them for now. Pre-packing is fine it just takes up more space than we have at the the moment. And we get people that buy multiple items sometimes so if everything was pre-packed, we would have to open those items and re-pack them in a bigger box.

It’s so absurd for eBay to call it free shipping. There is no such a thing. It’s “shipping included” not free shipping. I rarely offer “free shipping”. i let the buyer pay what ever the actual shipping cost is to their location and I have the same money in my pocket no matter where it is going. People close to me (Midwest) may buy from me if the shipping is cheaper for them. Only time I offer “free shipping” is if almost all sellers with the same item are offering “free shipping”.

Item's weight + 2lbs on items like VCRs/Boomboxes and other bulky/heavy items in the Calculated Shipping tool is all I'd do. Otherwise I'd do free shipping. Back in the old days of eBay they'd push Sellers to do Free Shipping (now they pushing Free Returns).. so Free Shipping got more traffic. After years of doing both, found out it doesn't matter. Just kept shipping on big items, for the reasons you mentioned to avoid issues on P.O. Boxes and long distances.

But if I'm not mistaken, a couple of years ago, it came out that Ebay's search engine was giving priority to 'free shipping' items. If you looked it seemed to be true, too. Don't know if that's changed or not, but worth thinking about when you create a listing.

Perhaps a local shoe store has older racks for sale. That new rack that you bought might do the trick for taller boots. Good on you, Haley! Sell those clothing items! Cottage core is quite the rage right now, best of luck to you!

Nice tip on the pool noodles to cushion items. TY I ship small packages and my OCD makes me put clear tape over the shipping labels to help from peeling off. Its worth the extra peace of mind. Good Show. :)

If you use a thermal printer you can't put tape over the labels because it will activate the heat ink stuff and turn the labels all black
