Bought one of these based on this video about 4 years ago and have just bought a Chalatse from yourselves this weekend as an additional, amazing pack

I have the 40:45 for a while now and I couldn't figure out how to use the features. Thanks to your video, I know now how to use them efficiently! Massive thumbs up! Thank you so much.

Just bought my Altus NB 40:45 and needed to see how it was a good buy. Thank you for clear guidelines and presentation.

I couldn't find the rain cover on mine - I feel soooo stupid! I'm new to walking and this is my first 'proper' rucksack. I was really overwhelmed (but happy!) at all the storage pockets/space. This review has helped a lot, thank you!

Glad to be of service and have fun with all your walking.

What a well presented and comprehensive review this is - a big thumbs up! It looks like a really well designed and fully featured pack. However, it's 620g heavier than the Osprey Exos 58 - that's a big weight difference which is a deal breaker for me. The Exos also has a fully removable lid to reduce weight even further when needed.
@PaulBienvenu1 Жыл бұрын
That's a huge difference indeed, but this one has lots of pockets I'm looking for a similar bag with lots of pockets but lighter, like the exos... Kinda difficult ahah

Have you done a video of what you have in your pack for various activities? For instance just going out for a days hill walking or going on a 1-2 day trek. Good video by the way. Very informative. Along with all the others I’ve watched so far.

I just bought the Altus 32 Daypack. This video really helped me figure out how to use my bag. I am glad to see that I made a good choice in my purchase. My question is, what would be a good size bladder to put in it?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Anything up to 3L should be fine. Harry

@@trekitt Is there a hole in the top of the bag to run a bladder sipping tube out to the front?

Would the 40-45 take a tent or sleep pad through the bottom straps?
@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don't have one on hand to check for sure, but from memory and having had a look at some close-up images, it looks like the straps have enough adjustment to fit an average 1 person tent or a compact sleeping mat underneath. Kind regards, Harry,
@Tonywozere994 жыл бұрын
i was thinking the same thing. yes it would. there are 2 straps, from the bottom of the front panel to the pack (adjacent to rain cover), and my tent roll ties up securely. saw one half price a few days ago, chanced my arm and bought it from cotswold outdoors uk lol, v pleased

Nice review as usual. How would compare this pack and the Fjallraven Abisko Friluft 40L pack? I'm rather short person 168cm.
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
I would say that the Friluft has a longer back system and is better suited to those with a longer torso. Check out this video to explain how to fit a pack, as it's down to torso length and not overall height, for example, I am 6'3" and use a medium size pack. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ2Uqn2XoLCjY5Y

Hi Paul, I'm Fabri, typing from Italy, I got a couple of questions for You. 1) I found thid bag very interesting but my torso lenght is 45 cm, I would find it too long for me, from lowe alpine I find this choise very strange. Is the other version of the altus model? 2)You have reviewed this bag on march 2019 but I cannot find it on the product section of the lowe alpine web site. Did they sostitute the altus with a new model? Thanks a lot
@trekitt5 жыл бұрын
You could look at the Women's Altus which is exactly the same but features a shorter back length (43-48cm); this should provide a more secure fit (i'll pop a link to it below). You're right regarding the Lowe Alpine website! We're not sure why they aren't on there, but as far as we're aware there aren't any plans to replace the Altus. Kind regards, Harry. www.trekitt.co.uk/38641/products/lowe-alpine-womens-altus-nd4045-fig.aspx
@fabriziocastellini13855 жыл бұрын
@@trekitt Thanks Harry for answering me. Last question, when you say that the women version is exactly the same you mean the only difference is the back lenght? Isn't it as the deuter women version that has a different shape and width of the shoulder straps? Thank you a lot. Regards Fabrizio
@trekitt5 жыл бұрын
@@fabriziocastellini1385 There is a slight difference in the overall shape around the shoulder straps and hipbelt, but it isn't drastic. I'd recommend trying it on before purchasing if possible, but we do offer a no time limit returns policy if you purchased it from us online and needed to send it back. Harry.

Hi there, Wondering how good the 52 is with smaller loads? Are you able to compress it down effectively to stablise it ? Kind of need the 52 size for hut to hut with sleeping bag etc. but sometimes don't need to carry all of that stuff.. Thanks..
@trekitt5 жыл бұрын
The 52 can be compressed down fairly small as it features two compression straps on either side, plus the top lid can be pulled tightly to reduce the overall volume. You should be absolutely fine.
@MrSimonBurgoyne5 жыл бұрын
Many thanks - In NZ we have walks like Milford track where you carry minimal gear hut to hut and then others where you need to need more capacity as cooking facilities not provided etc. hence the questions re Altus 52 - the 42 is just that little bit smaller with same carry system and not much lighter.. Also looking at osprey Stratos 50 and talon 44 to much choice..

atom lt or ar?
@trekitt5 жыл бұрын
It depends on your use - The AR has more insulation and therefore is warmer, and the LT has less insulation and polyester side panels so is more breathable. We love them both!

You're right, there are definitely a lot of great packs out there. Maybe narrow it down to a handful, put them in a room and spin round with your eyes closed and pick one that way? Or give us a visit and we'll be happy to help guide you in the right direction for a pack that will suit your needs.
