If you are a Navy vet you see/hear a lot of wrong information. The scenes of the ships leaving Norfolk was not filmed at Norfolk. You basically push back in to the channel and then are headed straight for open water. There is not much land around you like you see in the video. The descriptions of the flight deck float coat colors was iffy at best. Just too much bad or poor information in this.

I am always amazed at the amount of surface rust on USN ships. It does not take much to have pride in having their own ships to look perfect. There is no reason for it, as they left port rusty. This would not be allowed to happen in a lot of other navies.

NO aircraft was shot down; in my seven months in the YO-3A not one bullet hole was ever found. The highest I ever flew was 2500 feet. Most of the time was 650feet-750.feet at night.

I heard it's so fast that when they tried to measure the top speed, the first sailor ran out of the knotted line before the second sailor's 30 second sandglass had finished even the first cycle. So, it was impossible to calculate the exact top speed, as it was over the scale. Although some say the line was caught by the screw, but that's just nasty bad-mouthing.

At 6:17 what is that vessel and what is that spinning device? I don’t think that is mentioned anywhere as part of the strike group. That spinning thing must be an anti-missile radar. I can not identify that vessel. That ship cutting to port is not mentioned elsewhere in this documentary. I can barely make out a 71 on the hull. Very curious about what that thing is doing while spinning that fast, and being that big. Anyone know?
