You're building it right. Spiral staircase is a bit cumbersome to go up and down compared to standard ladder also might make it harder to get larger items into the loft. Larger footprint as well.

Thank you for watching and your input! We went back and forth on the staircase. Originally we wanted a traditional one but it took up too much space. We considered a ladder but decided it was going to be too difficult for some of our family members. Hope you follow along to see it come to life!
