Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Riley’s guiding emotions- Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness-live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life and tries to keep things positive, but the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. Is Inside Out a modern Pixar Classic?

I love how you appreciate sadness, most reactors are mad at her and favor joy more.

I know I honestly don’t understand why most people got mad at sadness, like even during the first time watching it I got annoyed by joy and thought she was over controlling. It honestly almost made me hate her however since she did realize the mistake of her actions and realized that Riley needed to feel sadness and let sadness take control , I grew to like her in the end but yeah it still shocks me how many people seem to side with joy over sadness.

@@taylortonkin2258 They did it to us on purpose. The writers egged the audience on to not like Sadness but then they pulled the old switcharoo on us when she was consoling Bing Bong and her importance was starting to be made clear.

They are mad at her until they realize that she’s needed. They fail to recognize that sadness doesn’t just make you sad, but it’s also a source of empathy and sometimes helps facilitate healing.

I understood the message of the movie right away because I never in my life felt bad about crying and never tried to get rid of sadness. I think in my head Joy and Sadness are the bestest friends and they can constantly switch between eachother and support eachother. My most "hated" emotion is Anger. I am 30 now and I still don't understand why I need this emotion or what good in my life this emotion can bring. I basically try to get rid of this emotion. I want always no matter what stay calm and not screaming and offending anyone. I really don't understand the purpose of Anger. All I see is that Anger is the one who wants to destroy relationships or make them bad. I don't think I'm wrong here... I would never scream at my parents as Riley did. And I think it's bad to scream at your child instead of talk patiently.

21:44 I think Sadness specifically is spreading like that in part because she was not being expressed and needed to find an outlet somehow, rather than it being a normal thing. It's also possible that those memories (if they're not discarded) will return back to a non-sadness-tinged state after some time, since Riley's really sad about having had to move so far away from her home and her friends and everything she knew. But mostly I think it's just how like when you're sad but not letting yourself express it, thinking about something in the past that wasn't even sad might make you cry, or how the tiniest little frustration might make you have a meltdown, and it's not really about that little frustration, it's about something else entirely. She's just... bubbling over because she needs to be *felt* in order to be processed and moved on from, in this situation.

The moment where Disgust makes Anger so angry he burns the window, it could be Riley kinda being almost disgusted (or ashamed, if we consider shame a secondary emotion to disgust) with her own anger or the actions her anger has led her to do, stealing, running away and snapping at others.
@celinelia8127
@celinelia8127 5 күн бұрын
the allegory when Disgust uses Anger to burn the hole through the glass would probably that sometimes in emotional numbness it's the Anger that wakes you up, makes you feel something and clears path for Joy&Sadness.

Awesome reaction, I have seen a lot of reactions to this movie and you are the only one that noticed, or at least commented on that fact that Joy only cared about and acknowledged the core memories, and not Bing bong, when he got taken away. That was my thought when I first watched this movie, and has always bothered me. She didn't say like "oh no! Bing bong AND the memories!" I always wondered why no one else has said anything about that and I started to think I was weird for noticing it and maybe it was just me overthinking things? Well now I feel justified so thanks! lol

I think Joy said that because of Riley since it's Riley's core memories, in Joy's mind at the time, her one priority is to make Riley happy
@GaM42232
@GaM42232 10 күн бұрын
@@AndiReservation Sure, at that moment in the movie all joy cared about was herself, the core memories and making Riley happy. However if Joy was only able care about Riley then she wouldn't have cried or cared when Bing Bong sacrificed himself to save her and the memories. It definitely was a choice made by the creators/ writers to show Joys personal growth through the movie. Same as her coming to understand Sadness and her purpose. It doesn't negate what I said or my feeling towards that scene. Thanks for your input though.

"Well actually there's always times when you're afraid of girls" I did understand the scene lol. I didn't think he was feeling grossed out by her, as I addressed what he was feeling then transitioned to something else. Though I probably worded it wrong. Basically I originally said I never had that phase when I was afraid of them even talking to me, then I corrected myself as everyone (myself included) is afraid of girls at some point and that the actual phase I never had was the "ewww kooties" phase.

I had a hard time getting to terms wirh my anger and realising it is profondly necessary. And it started with realising that (healthy) anger is different to resentment or hate. Whilest hate or resentment is targeted against a person or situation and has the clear aim to destroy them, anger is in it's outcome a open feeling. It is necessary to feel ones own bonaries, needs and when those are overstepped or disteguarded. To allow anger in this way brings clearness about a conflict. Without it you can't figure out your needs and accept harmgull situations.

lol I’m from Fargo, we definitely don’t sound like that 😂 Also wasn’t filmed in Fargo 😂 Most people up here have the General American Accent. That being said, I only notice my accent when I pronounce Dakota as we don’t typically pronounce the T. It’s more like Dakōda. But if you’re ever in Fargo, at the visitors center, people can take a picture with the wood chipper that was in that film. I find it odd but it is a thing 😂
