Amazing how calm he seems considering how he really felt about being at Dior. I will miss him at the house!

raf simons is the one who made dior wearable. dior owes a lot to him, no matter what you think

eh, maybe women's Dior, Kris Van Assche's Dior Homme collections from 07-09 were incredible, Hedi Slimane was also great.

Dior was always wearable, even Galliano had more wearable pre-collections in stores that looked amazing.

i don't know if its because of Dior but honestly he is my favourite designer!...i love his designs, his aura, his energy...

'energy'?? He's an isolate, deep thinking creative but I wouldn't say what he exudes is 'energy'.

I love these designer interviews, it's lovely hearing their point of view.
@benjaminmirt50297 жыл бұрын
the part where he describes how he moved his perspective from "conceptual" to "aesthetics derived from impressions of nature" for dior and how it was relieving and that he admits that he was never looking at it that way and then the pause and the slight nervouseness. maybe still in doubt still in the dialogue with those concepts, wondering, contemplating... if thats him being truthfully right there and not a marketing move. it totaly shows how cool that guy is. very inspiring, thank you.

A little more incisive interviewer would have made this interview better tho Mr. Simons did his best in giving as full, complete information as possible. For someone who supposedly doesn't like giving interviews, he was and always seems to be wonderfully forthcoming, informative and direct. Some very interesting & beautiful cuts & design's in the collection, love the desert landscape look & fabric shoes.

Andre Isis You said his shirt isn't as good as his designs... when the shirt is his design.
@ToastedTurtleOnRye8 жыл бұрын
My point is that he was seemingly saying that the shirt was crappy and his designs were not. A is a subset of B, so A cannot possess a contradictory quality to B. That's what Andre was saying.

+NADS IQ That is some surprisingly classic insulting you got going... but I already know english, thanks. I suppose it's actually not clear, though. So you could be right. He could have meant "No sense of style like his designs" as in, "No sense of style, just like the rest of his designs." or I could be right and he could have meant "No sense of style, not like the sense of style his designs have." I read it as the second because it seemed he was joining in the complimenting of Raf's watch choice, and that he was watching a Raf interview... so it seemed as if he would be here because he liked Raf's designs.

they're all very different-- can't really compare. If I had to, I'd edge it to Yohji just because of his longevity and influence on many of the big designers of today.

Spending *5 mins* talking about the Dior house and the Dior customer before Raf and *only* referencing Dior himself... When Dior before Raf and the customer before Raf *obviously* was all Galliano... What kind of interviewer is that... It's super embarrassing how transparent it is that *BoF* were not allowed to mention Galliano (and ofc I know Raf wouldn't have wanted to talk about him, but that's beside the point). But how to talk about the Dior customer before Raf without mentioning Galliano? That's not journalism BoF...Certainly not business oriented journalism. Imagine interviewing a Tim Cook being new at the job, and not even mentioning the Steve Jobs before him? Lousy.

Raf "It was a bit scary at first".....Yes because John Galliano can do what you do in his sleep.
@writeract29 жыл бұрын
jonnyfendi2003 No need to be cruel, Raf's seems like he's a nice guy, he's bringing his own slant to the house which is taking it to possibly a needed change in direction...and meeting their bottom line, unfortunately a necessary evil for any business in current state of affairs in the world. Galliano made his own talented contribution for which there is also a place, but why, as people r doing, endlessly compare the two when both styles r distinctively separate & individualistic.
@jonnyfendi20039 жыл бұрын
writeract2 La Principessa Anne Please, go look at any Galliano interview especially the recent Vogue Festival one with Alexandra Shulman and hear Galliano talk about fashion. Shit will give you chills on how much knowledge Galliano holds.
@writeract29 жыл бұрын
jonnyfendi2003 Agreed, Galliano has an incredible, wonderful natural gift and flair for this and he is missed. Raf has his own purpose to fulfill. Galliano, among many other things, is a romantic and like many romantics are drawn to a sense of the non-real & fantasy, sometimes drawn from historical past. Raf comes from viewpoint more of practicality, the contemporary/modernism and eminent wearability for women, not that Raf's wk is devoid of poetry. He has his time there as will others, I'll chk out the video b/c if nothing else, i luv hearing John talk, he's always interesting and a lovely (& now very humbled) person.
@erickreyes69699 жыл бұрын
jonnyfendi2003 john galliano and raf simons are totally different designers. neither one of them can do what the other can. raf simons is very good at pulling back, he is like the steve jobs of dior, what is not necessary is taken out. just because raf simons edits well does not mean he makes non-impact design. sometimes, editing is harder than additions.
