It seems there are a lot of people in the comments who are unsure of the timeline regarding Red Lobster filing for bankruptcy and this guy becoming CEO. Red Lobster was bought up by an investment firm in August and bankruptcy proceedings were cancelled. This guy was then hired to be the next CEO of Red Lobster. Since he was successful with running P.F. Chang's more than likely he was meant to revitalize the Red Lobster brand which is sorely needed.

Reminder Red Lobster went bankrupt because a private equity company, Golden Gate, bought Red Lobster and forced them to sell the real estate to Golden Gate and charged Red Lobster above market rate to lease the land/building. They also forced Red Lobster to buy over priced sea food sold by a company Golden Gate owns. This is called asset-stripping and it's why Sears, Dollar Tree, and Toys R US went out of business.
