INSIDE SCOTT SRAM - Home Turf Lenzerheide

The 5th round of the XC WC is one of the highlights on the SCOTT SRAM MTB Racing teams calendar. Why? It's home soil for most of it's riders. 19,000 fans were out in full force to cheer on the riders the atmosphere was electric.
Kate Courtney kicked the weekend off by showcasing her new season colors and bike 🤩 Concluding with a strong race, finishing in 7th place in the XCO. Nino Schurter had another strong weekend of racing finishing in P4. A strong weekend of racing concluded with SCOTT SRAM being awarded team of the day and SCOTT SRAM leading the UCI MTB World Cup 🍻

Only if one of the spectators caught it, there were no official cameras (of Swiss national tv) filming that part of the track… Unfortunately…

We all know what happen, it’s racing. Even if you win 1000 times, other are always in the hunt for a start to create a new legend of the sport. This is racing and the main reason we all watch it.

So gutted for N1no. One of the best races if not the best. In both mens and womens. Kate was superb to be back up there and Nino just back to his very best. Dominating from the off. Really curious what happened. Absolutely ZERO room for error on that last lap both were at the very top of their game. Congrats Nino for another epic race. So so close.

Nino Schurter and Mathias Flückiger led the race in the last lap. Nino was in the better position in the fight for victory because the finish sprint goes through a bend and Mathias would therefore have had the further way. In the last part of the forest Mathias tried to overtake Nino in a very difficult spot and they both fell. Mathias says: That's racing. Nino says: It was impossible to overtake fairly there, he shot me down. It was very emotional because Nino finally wanted the sole record of 34 World Cup victories and both riders saw the chance for a home victory, including a double victory in front of their home crowd. Because Mathias ultimately came third and Nino fourth, he also reduced the gap in the overall standings.
