This brought tears to my eyes, remembering visiting the cathedral in 1992 and being reminded of the incredible artistic workmanship I witnessed in St. Petersburg and Moscow. I cried a lot looking at the Medusa mosaic at the Hermitage where I felt the spirit of the godlike artisans rising in my heart. We cannot lose these great legacies to the beauty which can save us all.

@@sbelobaba There was nothing left of Ruriks. How are Romanovs usurpers?
@sbelobaba10 ай бұрын
@@yungsh0ttalex592 > nothing left of Ruriks. How did it happen? Godunov was poisoned. Tsar Boris died on April 13, 1605. The next day, Moscow swore allegiance to Boris Godunov's 16-year-old son, Fyodor. But his reign was short-lived. The conspirators were already preparing popular unrest and the coronation of False Dmitry. On June 10, 1605, a frantic crowd led by the conspirators the Shuiskys, Golitsyns, and Romanovs, burst into the royal chambers of the Kremlin. The young Tsar and his mother were strangled and buried without any honors. All relatives and supporters of the Godunovs were captured and executed... The usurpers of the throne, the Romanovs, dealt with the family of the last Russian tsar of the Rurik dynasty no less cruelly than with the Godunovs. In 1614, Tsar Dmitry was executed. The conspirators impaled him on a stake. It is not known for sure how Marina Mniszech died. According to one version, she was hanged, according to another, drowned. Obviously, the Romanovs did not spare Ivan, the little son of Marina and Dmitry. The boy was the legitimate heir to the throne and he could not be left alive. The Romanovs publicly hanged the four-year-old child on the Spassky Gates of the Kremlin. So, the Romanovs exterminated the entire Rurik dynasty and unleashed a bloody civil war in the Empire. They emerged victorious from that war and established themselves on the Moscow throne. 300 years later, their distant descendants repeated the fate of the last Ruriks.

you have to picture the boyars in their long flowey kaftans and fur trimmed pointy hats loitering in that entry hall.. I think also confirmed by the starkly secular designs on the walls as compared to the church itself, which is in the typical byzantine tradition of most orthodox churches right through today. This is due to iconography having to meet strict canonical standards, it is something pretty much unchanging. However the pastel flowery designs of the surrounding rooms are in complete contrast - purely decor

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you see St Basil's Cathedral? It’s not a church, it looks more like a mosque. It makes sense. It was built in the 16th century when, according to the New Chronology, Orthodoxy and Islam hadn’t yet separated. Pay attention to the wall paintings in old halls of the cathedral. There are no depictions of either people, or animals as it should be in a mosque. The appearance is also unique, looks like a mosque. All similar churches-mosques were destroyed or rebuilt when the Romanovs came to power in Russia in the early 17-th century. Just St Basil's Cathedral survived.

Or Islam ripped off Christianity. Most mosques look exactly like byzantine cathedrals because many of them used to be byzantine cathedrals that were captured in war. Islam was never part of chrisianity it was founded based on the stories of a heretical sect that spit from Christianity in the 4th century. Islam was founded in the 7th century and never was considered Christian by anyone.
@sbelobaba10 ай бұрын
@@Greasy__Bear > Islam was never part of chrisianity I have a different info on the subject. Islam was born as a new, more strict branch inside then uniform Orthodoxy. It appeared as a reaction to the plagues of the early 15th century that swept over the Empire. It was also fueled with prediction of the end of the World in 1492. Until early 17th century this was still the same Chistian religion. The separation started when the usurpers Romanovs came to power in Moscow. Europe was using the Romanov family as their most powerful weapon against their most robust enemy, the Ottoman empire. Under such circumstances the church schism was inevitable. Even until now the old Russian churches have crosses with crescent below the cross. This is a remnant of the old tradition.

Fellow Russian youtuber here. If you separate politics from Russian life and nature, its true that Russia itself is a very interesting place. Unfortunately, as a citizen of Russia, my relatives have been subject to countless disasters - revolution, Stalin, wars, 90s. Our money has been stolen and confiscated multiple times, hence the poverty that Soviet citizens lived in. Once you live through that, it's not that much fun anymore.

The taking of Kazan (and Astrakhan as well) was one of the greatest events in history of world Christianity. Kazan and Astrakhan khanates were satellites of Osman Turkey that was a death threat to all European Christianity. After Kazan and Astrakhan were captured by Russia, Turkey lost its power. And Roman Pope admitted the knyaz Ivan 4 ("Terrible") as a Caesar i.e. Emperor. Caeser sounded in Russian as Tsar. So tsar is not equal a king but an emperor. King is equal knyaz, konig, konung. These words have a same root
