A massive thanks to all our patrons who funded us to the point where we felt confident taking the dive on producing a series over two and a half years. And thanks to all of you for watching this whole time. We've had a blast working on Developing Hell. It was a great learning experience on how games are made, and how to produce a docu-series. Hopefully we have more of these in our future. Thanks again. Become a Patron in 2021! patreon.com/noclip

Not to mention that they're a studio of 20 people. I can certainly understand how floored they were to the point of still not being able to grasp the enormity of it all. All of a sudden, your little studio just stepped inside the premier inner circle, and everyone welcomed you with open arms. An inner circle that has the likes of characters that have been recognizable by the majority of the population, gamers and non-gamers alike, for decades. How do you honestly react to something like that?

I'm selfish for wanting this but in my heart of hearts, after experiencing 30 hours of Hades II in early access. I'm really hoping that Hades II: Return to Hell is another Noclip mini series. I wonder about Amir and Greg and everyone at Supergiant when they see that Hades II in Early Access on Steam has already passed their peak players of Hades on Steam. I have no doubt that when Hades II launches 1.0, it'll be an achievement even rivaling that of the original Hades. Grateful to Noclip forever preserving this time capsule to what is now a beloved franchise.

What Amir said at the end about being careful in attributing the success of a project to something specific that you did is incredibly poignant, very self-aware, and extremely humble. Love that he's got such a bird's eye view on this, because a lot of other creators would've given into that temptation and read off a list of reasons why they finally nailed it with this game and how they've mastered their craft. Amir's response shows that he knows that the team is going to keep growing and better itself, and they're all better off for it 👏

I lost my dad to covid in October 2020. It was devastating... and I remember staying in a little hotel in Ann Arbor trying to keep it together. I saw Hades on the Nintendo eShop. I've played every Super Giant game in the past and they were always enjoyable. That autumn and winter had been rough as hell... but I played Hades whenever I had free time and somehow found myself having fun, even laughing sometimes. Its a really good game... and it got me through. For that, I am truly thankful.

@@Pan_Z Dice is a better standard for good award shows. TGA is a mess from start to finish.
@Pan_Z
@Pan_Z 3 жыл бұрын
@@SamC77 It just sucks because The Game Awards is, by far, the most popular, despite being obviously influenced by publishers. Here, from The Game Award's Wikipedia page: The Game Awards has an advisory committee which includes representatives from hardware manufacturers Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and AMD, along with several game publishers. This committee selects around thirty influential video game news organizations that are able to nominate and subsequently vote on the video games in several categories. The advisory committee otherwise does not participate in the nomination or voting process. During the nomination round, each of the news outlets provides a list of games in several categories; games for the esports-related categories are chosen by a specific subset of these outlets. The committee compiles the nominations and selects the most-nominated games for voting by these same outlets.... Winners are determined by a blended vote between the voting jury (90%) and public fan voting (10%) via social media. Publishers select the voting panel. It's not hard to imagine they pick people that will vote for their games. It's why The Last of Us 2 wins awards, even nonsensical ones, while other games don't even make the nominees. Despite being total bs, these awards shows are great marketing for games. Watching games that deserve the spotlight denied it sucks.
@SamC77
@SamC77 3 жыл бұрын
@@Pan_Z the categories they have, the nominations and winners are already a HUGE clue that this voting committee is mostly out of touch with gaming and the voting is all on game popularity, not the actual criteria for the award. who the hell is "Newsweek" or "LA times" in gaming?? every "best ongoing game" has always been a joke there were always a better title than what 'won', and remember Destiny2 was nominated the same YEAR it released for "ongoing" game. TGA's nominations and voting and setup is a joke from start to finish. no respectable award show would run the award ceremony in the same year and disrespect the games from that year that released shortly before or after the ceremony. the fact that PUBG or death stranding were nominations is too much. GOTY should always be 2 things: 1 - made well and not buggy, 2 - and greatly recieved/fun. PUBG and death stranding are only 1 of those things listed. we have Dice for the real game awards, no focus on esports, or twitch thots, or out of touch voting committee or running the show in the SAME YEAR. TGA is like Nascar for games, very low standards.

Not to be a downer, but that part was a sobering reminder for me that reviews and awards DO matter. Hell, the people who make these games gain not an insignificant amount of validation from it. They even skipped straight to the score! This is why it's important for us as audiences to patronize only the reviewers and award shows that give games a fair shake - no more, no less. Because they do have power, and it's up to us to keep them on their toes and make sure that they wield that power properly.
