It's getting to the point where I feel confident I could adjust track tension on most tanks in the period 1930-50 :)

Ah, the old "Chieftain" music. I had forgotten how loud it was. Like an M88 running at full throttle with a bad cylinder.

The drive system sounds a lot like the Aussie's Sentinel - except that the Sentinel had 3 Cadillac engines (and a manual trans - crash box, if I'm not mistaken. Not a nice tank by all accounts, but needs must and all that.)

I think they need to throw away the music while he's talking, and yes while I do agree he had more energy at E3 I still believe having two people would be wasting time and I don't mean making the video long but making the information take longer to get to the point.
@Thewalrus328
@Thewalrus328 12 жыл бұрын
Yes it is about information, but the way in which it is communicated doesn't have to be boring (my opinion). The way the delivery is right now, we might as well just read a technical manual or look at pictures, there's just so little energy. I know he has charisma, I've seen the vids of him explaining the tank trees at E3, but here he's just so lifeless. And to address your point about time, there's no time limit on these vids...they spend 45 sec on the intro alone.

That floor grating looks ridiculous. What happens if you drop something and you don't have 20 minutes to coax whatever it is to the side?
@readhistory2023
@readhistory2023 6 жыл бұрын
It's a open top vehicle so when it snows the floor will get icy. They need something like that cheese grater on steroids floor grating to make sure you don't slip. You might drop your P38 or a lighter but that's no big deal. Someone else will have one.

Bit shortish but ok! What a nicely restored vehicle with a wonderful attention to details! But why 2 engines? It's a double mantainance job!

To make it move.
@paoloviti6156
@paoloviti6156 10 жыл бұрын
Yes but a complicated way of moving it! It is only because of the inherent reliability that it could move! Try to change 16 spark plugs in 10min! I can presume that two engines are shorter compared to one single with the same horsepower or more simply because it was cheaper and already available then having a new one!
@Aleksitusasd

The Russians came to the same conclusion we did with war production. If it's only going to get blown up in a month or two why bother with the best welding when not below average welding is good enough? The welding does look bad. It looks it was the guy's first day on the job and he was suffering from a case of caffeine jitters.

If your track breaks, or you walk your tank out of the track because the track is too loose/too tight, you have a pillbox, not a tank. Track tension matters, and he only spent a minute on it, get over it.
