Sounds nice but I really hope it’s not a scam to get those people out of their apartments with no return plan.
@mikeoffical532Ай бұрын
So what do think they’re going to spend all that money to renovate their apartments for nothing? Of course not! They’re going to, at least, triple the cost to stay there and then give them the option to pay it or find somewhere else to live.

You have to remember that the Elliott Houses was built in a time before the Luxury buildings where built. In fact most of the projects were built in areas of the City that they called run down areas of the city. Just look at Harlem, at one time nobody wanted to live there. And really run down areas became Housing Projects back in the late 1940's through the 70's. But now, just about every empty lot has a luxury building going up on it.

Same thing here in Chicago. There’s an area downtown called the Gold Coast(Luxury upscale area). The projects used to be right up the street from there in the 80s

Look up: Amsterdam Houses Hamilton - Madison Houses Thanks to their locations, they get the better upkeep compared to Projects in far flung Brooklyn or The Bronx.

What am I not understanding? They're tearing down these buildings, but residents will remain in their apartments during construction of the new buildings, and the old buildings will be renovated and then demolished? I think something got left out of the script.
@leecornwell56322 ай бұрын
Listen carefully. They are not demolisheig the housing projects. Matter of fact they are definitely gonna rebuilding all new York city housing projects . Once they do that it's definitely gonna come out nice I tell you that right now.
@cjstephens100282 ай бұрын
They are planning to build a new building in empty space on the lot, move people into that building, tear down the building where those people used to live, build another new one on that site, move people into that new building and so on. The idea is that no one has to move out of the development into temporary quarters until their new, permanent home is ready. Hope that helps.

So I'm assuming once the new complex is completed, these tenants will be offered an opportunity to move into them, at an increased rent cost?! Or they will join the thousands of others who have lost their home, and end up on the streets! 😡

When I first heard about this, I thought, "this is b.s." Everyone thinks the UES is the most expensive but that's only Park and Fifth Avenue. Chelsea and the West Village have the highest rents and the prices of co-ops is out of control. The people who leave are not going to be able to move back in to the renovated apartments. There's nothing legally binding the city to do that. They will probably have to be part of a lottery. It's really so unfair.

This is why Chicago is all messed up. They tore down Cabrini green and scattered all these people on the south and west side now they are two most dangerous parts , parts of Chicago. the south and west side used to be middle class and upper middle class. I know it is the reason why I left Chicago in 2012 because violence started becoming everywhere once they did that and the Chicago started voted for left-wing politicians instead of them voted for someone who will tell building down and still make sure the community and the people are safe from the problems that Coming from the projects can bring not all people who live in the projects are bad, but some of them are then plus a migrant crisis yeah voting wonderful Democrat, isn’t🤣🤣🤣
