I took my little lad in August for 4 nights, my friend is an artist living in Barcelona. There's far too many tourists. We tried to stay out of the centre because it was just too crazy. I nearly got robbed on Barceloneta beach, a local lady shouted over to me warming me of a group of lads approaching me.

Just go in Oct....you should be ok to go anywhere in the city without terrible crowds. Try visiting during the week vs weekends. All the Euros come on weekends...take care everyone.

Do you think tourists should STOP visiting Barcelona?

Of course not. TBH I am surprised this 'over tourism' issue hasn't, so far, had the same effect in Italy ... except for Venice. I remember from my travel trade days decades ago that the ABTA annual convention was held in Florence. Some of the more cultured attendees were telling me that they were embarrassed by the sight of drunken agents wandering around the streets of that renaissance city late at night. (PS I never attended any ABTA event ... was never invited)

Europeans should stop going with ryanair for multiple weekends per year everywhere. That includes intstagrammers and influencers. Including you ! Brits should have their stag parties back home again ..

@@lws7394 Yes this over tourism is largely of.LCCs (budget airlines) who have made cities more accessible. It's not only Europe as you will find a similar situation in Asia thanks to the growing number of LCCs.

Global liquidity and economy will be changing in the not too distant future so this problem will resolve itself... just not in a way that people want.
