I don't think that house is long for this world. That one shot of the cliff it stands atop screams, "landslide!" When it does, that house is gone (or at least the ground is that sits underneath it.

Couldn't get over how there was erosion on the cliff side. Triggered my anxiety so much lol, something definitely could go wrong there
@adriennefloreen2 жыл бұрын
Me too. There are houses at the cliff edge of an eroding cliff that hangs over a popular beach I go to in California and every time I am on that beach I regularly look up. I wouldn't be surprised if the homeowners are well aware that some kind of erosion issue under the house exists and they have to disclose that to sell the house in California, so that makes it very hard to sell, so they hired Enes to try to sell it to the world on KZbin. My house is kind of near a nuclear power plant that's now closed and they have to tell people about this when we buy property. I knew of course but the realtor didn't actually mention it until we had had our bid accepted, then he pulled out all these warning we had to sign about the power plant, earthquakes, and other hazards. Imagine someone with 23 million dollars going through the whole house buying process then when they're gonna close the deal they're told the house might fall down a cliff.
@robertplank62842 жыл бұрын
Guess I'm in the minority. The tour was excellent as always but the house was way to industrial and cold for me. Modern is my favorite style of architecture however this home manages to have a claustrophobic feel to me.

I agree, that bath is a disaster waiting to happen. And they didn't show the bar in the dining area. It has a sliding door, but if you want to access the bar that door slides and hide the kitchen completly... This house was built for "art" not for an actual livable home.

Beautiful house & views . Unfortunately it's built on a bluff that is being eroded by the ocean . Parts of the concrete patio have already been exposed 3:40 & 21:12 . One hurricane & you could end up on the beach 🌊🌊. Mark (Toronto)
@adriennefloreen2 жыл бұрын
In California it would more likely be an Earthquake that did it in. But a tsunami could actually just continue right up those cliffs because there's little to no beach underneath.Start the video and pause at 1 second in, all the houses on the south (right) side are hanging over a severely erdoing cliff and there's no vegetation so its recent. On the north side it's more sloped with vegetation.

I love the natural elements of homes like this. They too have an energy and a dynamic that most people are too programmed by Better Homes and Gardens to be able to understand. The lines and curves are sacred geometry and draw you though the home. Every new space is a surprise that sparks joy and delight. I love this architect! 🤗🤗

This home is sleek futuristic unique gem. The stones, concrete landscaping throughout gives a clean sophisticated look. The living area with the open fireplace and the fire pits are EVERYTHING..cool pool and outside sitting spaces. The TV seating spot on the 2nd level is, well cute! The detached guest suite makes for a nice intimate hide away. Thanks Enes, Mikey and your team for showing those ocean views of California dreaming....

So few of these houses are anything I would choose to live on. This is one of the very best exceptions! I applaud everyone associated with creating such a work of art. I also have to tell the owners how jealous I am! Being a California resident, and having literally seen buildings torn down because of their risk of falling into the ocean, I am concerned that this bluff is already undercutting the back yard space. i know you said part of it was cantilevered out over the edge, but I really wish you had talked about how this home is tethered to the edge of a sand cliff.

As someone who has lived by the coast for over 30 years I would *_never_* purchase a property on the edge of a cliff. In fact I wouldn't purchase somewhere within 100m of a cliff.
@keosh7772 жыл бұрын
Agree. My immediate thought at the first drone overview: this home at risk of collapse when that bluff gives way a few feet. Has that cliff eroded under the balcony edge already? I say this as it makes no sense to built beyond the cliff edge at some points. I was hoping for an explanation that would alleviate my concern. I noticed other homes along this coast were well back with what appeared to be significant retaining wall remediation to slow erosion, imho. The tour, lighting, design were all quite amazing. Not really my style, but, I very much appreciate the Frank Lloyd Wright nod.

I live right next to this house and the risk off this house in particular falling in a very unlikely due to it being set back and having a large seawall

Great tour! As a designer, I appreciate the home from the artistic point of view- the styling is consistent through out the whole home and it feels deliberate in its function. Excessive design elements in most modern homes often appear to be included solely to justify the elevated price tags, but this home does not give off that impression. That being said, as a home owner, this house wholly disturbs me. It's the antithesis to my personal understanding of homey, it feels like a hamster cage of which the inhabitants will always be put on display, exposed to the outside world. From my point of view, it's a very odd stylistic choice for a home, it definitely takes a very specific mindset for a person to enjoy this home but I guess that is exactly who this home was built for.
@moonwalker0910002 жыл бұрын
I saw this house on the Architectural Digest tour on youtube but, no surprise, yours is so much better. Great tour once again. In my opinion, it is one of the strangest homes I have ever seen, and building it so close to the cliffs is unsettling. The 'pool' is either designed for kids to play in or a koi pond, not practical at all for anything else. The staircase is beautiful though, probably the nicest thing in the house. Thanks for the tour, great job once again :o)

The bluff top location, the crescent pool…hasn’t he toured this property already? Or a very similar one anyway. The use of stainless steel here I’ve never seen before in a domestic home environment…I like it a lot. Stainless Steel is one of my favorite materials, and despite the extensive use of said steel and concrete, it’s not a “cold” home. The rooms are a bit on the small side though, considering the price point. But that all encompassing ocean vista is magnificent! Did Enes say at the beginning, that this house starred in an episode of Westworld? Really like that show. The current season 4 is very good too, only bettered by season 1. They got their mojo back.
