What a great treat to see the interior of the gate house. I’ve always wondered what it looked like.

Today is the 159th anniversarey of Gettysburg July 1st. This is a great story about one of my heros of Gettysburg. Elizibeth Thorn an incredible person. Every American should know of this person for what she did after Gettysburg. What this must have been like to bury so many dead solders all most by her self. While being 7 month pregnant. Unbelievable. A true American HERO.

This brings back memories. A few years ago when we visited Gettysburg we stayed at the Comfort Suites which was very close. We did a lot of walking through and close to this cemetary.

GREAT VIDEO great stories. Ive been to Gettysburg five times and always wanted to knows the history of g the folk buried there Last time I was privileged to be there it was winter December and at 3 pm was the only person at the deserted grave yard. Fascinating walking around and studying the gate house and taking many pics of the area. Also found the two grave markers of the two e confederate soldiers buried altho there remains were removed to an obscure position. Thanks u soooo much for the enlightening video. most appreciated. by the way Im from Johannesburg. South Africa si hows that for an interest I have. Best wishes to all . Viv Sharfman

Bit of trivia: Peter Thorn's unit, the 138th Pennsylvania Infantry took part in the Petersburg Breakthrough on April 2nd, 1865. Two soldiers of Company F, Cpl Mauk and Pvt Wolford were near the Boydton Plank Road when they encountered 2 Confederates and were called upon to surrender. Refusing to do so they opened fire, killing one of them. That soldier was Lt. General A.P. Hill, commander of the 3rd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia.
