It's rare to get a teenagers's opinion. It's so uplifting that also a teenager can get overwhelmed by Angelina's talent. Father and daughter both have their own arguments on why they think Angelina draws them in and has this effect on them. That shows how special Angelina is. Awesome! Alan, you do fabulous job to find and interview all these different people!

@thealanpapier I really enjoyed watching this discussion between you, Jeremy, and his daughter Amy! I especially appreciated Jeremy's insights describing Angelina's impact on viewers-some of the best articulated understanding so far! Seeing Amy being surprised and pleasantly shocked listening to a younger Angelina Jordan sing is always thrilling for us longtime fans. This was a wonderful intergenerational appreciation of the rare talent of Angelina Jordan. Looking forward to a further discussion with Amy and some of her friends discovering Angelina for the first time. Great podcast!

Please continue making these videos Alan. I appreciate you musical insight and your LOVE for Angelina. I've never really been a fan boy of any artist, except maybe Bob Marley. I listen to Angelina Jordan religiously and this young lady has re-invigorated my LOVE for music. Thank you Alan. 💛💜💛

I think thah Angelina and the people that really love her should listen to Jeremy. I am 70 years old and before her last EP I used to listen to Angelina every day, but I was shocked because all her new songs are about heartbreaks, betrayal, misunderstanding, pain, etc. I blame that to the "industry" and that old idea that the artists that have a life full of pain and suffering are more "real". My love for Angelina is so deep because at an early age she showed the world that that if you are an artist, you can sing very intense songs without sacrificing your life and your happines, but she is very young and the "forces" and the "Interests" that Jeremy talked about are real. She is a very nice girl, a great artist and I would like to see her singing about good love, frienship, nature, peace, progress, justice, etc. But that is just me, and old person that can not fight against the mighty market.

Angelina told us that each original song she writes comes from her journals. Yes she has used co-songwriters but I have to believe the main theme for her songs are hers. Angelina has always said she wants to sing for the entire world and to accomplish that, she needs to appeal to everyone. Her EP is a genius blend of the old and new. That said, I also would love a few ballads and some true jazz songs in the future.
@pjg58x
@pjg58x Жыл бұрын
The songs have nothing to do with the market or the industry. She personally chose the songs for the EP. She said all these songs are very personal to her and if you listen to the lyrics, a lot of them are about empowerment and fighting through adversity. Her song Fire and Rain is about her fans and how they are always there for her.

This is from an online article from STAGE RIGHT SECRETS: The Story Behind: 7th Heaven From Angelina Jordan 03/22/2021 Jordan revealed that she is often inspired to create music from personal pain. "Strong emotions, mainly painful ones, often make me write music," she shared. In a recent online Chat, she also revealed she already has written over 100 songs in journals that she keeps on a large shelf. She had to choose 6 to put on the EP....

Alan, the common theme of all of your podcasts: the minds of others, is so fascinating. Some neuroscientists speculate that consciousness itself arises out our ability to anticipate the agency of other beings. That is it's survival value. But as this grows it only enhances our own sense of self and the awareness of our jouney through through life. Your discussions truly enrich my own journey as does pondering Angelina's wondrous sense of empathy. Each new person that you interview only adds to this richness and meaning. Thank you.❤

Guilty as charged!! But getting into the minds of others is a variation of empathy. We are not individual isolated islands. As Jeremy says, we are a 'Sea of Souls'. And isn't it all about connecting with others!?!

Thank you Alan for this new episode. As mentionned in one of the comment bellow, it should be interesting to know what Amy, her friends or people same age, have to say about Angelina new EP and especialy on the 2 or 3 tracks wich are very different than her usual stuff and where Angelina explores new sounds or new rythmes (Rn'B, Hip hop, Rapp), even if she stays true to herself with her unique and timeless voice. Personnaly, I loved the entire EP 👍. Greetings from France, Alan 🟦⬜🟥🖐️. Hope my english is not too bad 🥴

This presentation was excellent! I don't know how far in advance this was recorded - as it would have been great to also include a couple of songs from Angelina's EP so that your friends could hear her latest stuff - to get a better gauge on what direction she is currently taking to see how it might also appeal to a younger audience. :)

Amy gave us familiar insights. Her reactions mirror ours very closely. I was having this conversation with my wife today wondering out loud how Angelina will break out. We were inconclusive. We thought that Air play was her best option. Air play on a big motion picture or on a late night television show like SNL or the like. Touring will also cement the experience for many of her fans or curious admirers. Enough said, I enjoyed the interview and look forward to more from you or the podcast.

Her latest release, the EP 'Old Enough', gives a pretty good indication of where she's headed, so I'm rather surprised you didn't include any of those cuts. Interesting as it was to hear the opinion of a teenager of her older stuff, it would have been much more to the point to include them. 😎

Agreed. It should be interesting to know what Amy or friends same age think about Angelina new music (her 1st EP with RR). Especialy their thoughts on "Diamond" or "Good in goodbye" wich have different sounds and rythmes, than her older stuff (covers or originals). So, good Idea for a future episode ... why not ? It's going to be fascinating to see what the performance plan is for AJ on the back of this new, original music- we know she's surely in rehearsals for the Portsmouth show, and some sort of tour to follow- these new songs wouldn't seem to lend themselves to a traditional jazzy backing as with last summer's concerts. One can see the foundations of a more mature stage presentation...but she's still only 17...and I'm sure she and her people want to be tasteful while pushing boundaries. That stage image and connection with a paying audience is the final frontier.

It's unfortunate you didn't play anything off the new EP because that is the direction she is taking her music and if you wanted her opinion on what AJ can do to appeal to her age group those songs would have been the point to start with. IMHO - Great video tho!

Hi Tee, You're quite right- and if we do a Part 2, then we will listen to her more recent songs. But for the first interview, I wanted Jeremy and Amy to choose songs where they were familiar with the original so that they would have a better way of appreciating AJ. Also by choosing their own songs, that would increase their comfort in the interview.

Amy, Jeremy, and Alan. I found that so fasinating, you guys talking about Angelina's singing, How she sings like she does. Angelina still fasinates me how well she sings today. And Alan, you are just few days away from going to see Angelina in Concert. In that 145 year old concert hall. What an amazing personal feeling it will be, their with Angelina. Wow! It will be like Angelina is talking and singing directly to you. I know my mind would go into a state like going into tunnel vision. All I would see and hear is our bare foot princess singing straight to me. I would be ablvious of what's going on around me. You have fantastic time Alan and anyone else that sees this message. Wonderful vid. I just wish you had more time, but that is nearly impossible with Angelina. I realize that problem when I try to introduce her to others. There is so much! Where do you start? How do I pick only a few vids and which ones when there are so many amazing ones? It would have been nice to have time for them to have a few more choices. I think she was 12 or under in the ones watched. Would be nice to react to more as she got older. Amy was amazing! It was nice to get the point of view from a girl of similar age. When she mentioned tik tok, I would have liked to shown her a few tik toks from an older Angelina, but as I said, there's not enough time to go too deep with so much to choose from. Really enjoy it though;)

Too bad you used the younger Valerie .. the one she just did in Germany is fabulous .. and it is the actual age she in NOW .. and Any also ... so she can relate to being her age, which is the idea of the conversation. She not only is young in the beach one .. but she was acting very young, which is unusual for Angelina. The one in Germany is more grown up.

Part of the problem is Angelina's fan base. 55 to 70 years old refreshing their KZbin feed 10 hours a day to see what reactors think. If anything critical is said they are critized to the point of not listening to Angelina any more. EVERYONE has a right to their own opion.

If someone has a criticism, I agree they have a right to express it. But once put out there, they also should listen to the responses and defend their position, if they aren't persuaded and still believe it, instead of not listening to Angelina anymore. The latter seems like an immature way to react.
