Kennys insight is dead WRONG. a 0 point and 13 assist game is in most cases a net negative. Most of his assists are not from shot creation, but its just him swinging the ball around because he doesnt want to shoot or from stationary handoff passes. His 9 boards are also overrated, because most are just completely uncontested defensive boards. He is literally not doing much of anything, and in a game where you need to score 120 points to win, his 0 points and half empty assists literally mean next to nothing!
@rap3208 Жыл бұрын
He had a total 13 assists in the game, that looks good if you don't know the details. Barkley's point was he already had 10 assists at the half, but at the more crucial 2nd half where he was supposed to step it up, he only had 3 assists...and still, zero points.
@chinbosschinboss2484 Жыл бұрын
@@rap3208 yes but he has assists because he is passing up scoring the ball entirely. It's like good guards CREATE assists/shots by being a *SCORING THREAT* and passing the ball when it's optimal. @DanielFolsom Жыл бұрын
It felt to me like they were all ignoring what Kenny was saying-he was saying that Westbrook's approach is how Simmons *could* score. But let's be real about Westbrook-it took him a long time to get to that point: there were many seasons where the team Russell Westbrook was on was WORSE because of his constant shot heaving, "Russ being Russ." Where night after night, he took a ton of shots and made very few of them. He refused to be deterred. And since Kobe, everyone's like "yeah you can't let a shooting slump deter you!" ... but if you keep shooting that poorly and at that high volume, you're hurting your team. Even now, when he has finally figured out how to raise his percentage, he's still a permanent fixture on the bench for a team that's been hovering around .500.

Giving a assist does not always equal " creating points". Many times its just a simple pass sidewards. The player who scored them must move and be a thread in order for there to even be a assist. If Ben would be a more aggresive scorer maybe another player had 5 assists more. So you cant just say wow he had more then 10 assists.
@waynejohanson1083 Жыл бұрын
Even though he did not score a point, he contributed with a lot of rebounds and assists but you still have to score a little. With him not scoring puts a lot of pressure of the other 4 guys out there.

The entire issue with Simmons is around how he is performing when considering his salary. The star potential and #1 pick that came with him early in his career is a sub point now. He may be elite in many ways on the floor, but he has to be more aggressive getting his own points or he is letting his team down. They are paying him to be an all star

I wonder does he even care at this point? I know me and I would be embarrassed to be getting all this loot and not contributing to the team with scoring. Some said that if he went 0-10 he would at least respect that he is putting the ball up but 0-3 is sad.
