The NYPD has said that they can shoot down planes, and as you know all cockpit doors can handle even explosives so another 9/11 is extremely unlikely, and the building is a lot more equipped to handle a plane impact than the original towers.

Facts. It blows my mind because the original twin towers world trade center was bombed in 1993 also, it blows my mind we didn't take this as a signal and prepare ourselves for what was next. But then again it wasn't really common for planes to crash into buildings in those times.

It's weird. A lot of people didn't like the original towers - too blocky, too bauhaus, too aesthetically unimaginative, etc. Now that they're gone, they want them back and hate the new one. Well, I for one think it's a beautiful building. I understand the impulse to re-create the originals as a big "up yours" to the terrorists, but over time, as I started to imagine what that would really evoke, I understand why they didn't do that. You wouldn't be able to look at them and not see them as mere reproductions. People would always see them, and not be able to help remembering what it was like when they came down, and never would they really feel like those are the same buildings, no matter how identical they look. And how would it feel to work there? Especially on floors that were on fire, that people jumped from? "Well, here I am again in this exact reproduction of the offices where six hundred Cantor-Fitzgerald employees were turned into human torches... I wonder how many saw the plane before it hit..." Who needs to be haunted by that every time they look out their office window? It's probably hard enough just going to work on the same site, let alone in a replica. No, this is better. It's taller, stronger, more unique, and the twin tower footprints are reflection pools and a memorial... a place apart from the new building where life goes on. I think they did good.

i agree with you, but come on, its 2016, nowadays security in high-rise buildings is far more strict than in 2001, this applies to airplanes, airports, docks, boats, railroad stations, even to f*cking 24/7s !! besides, due to what happened there, if the towers would have been rebuilt, im preety sure they would be a lot tougher and stronger, but without losing that 1970-1990s vibe. i mean they fitted the skyline as any other building

The new wtc was built with blast proof glass, thick non hollowed steel unlike the original towers and nuclear bunker grade concrete. This is the safest building in the world and you shouldn't be afraid to go up in there. The towers fell due to lightweight trusses that had a small amount of expired fire proofing. This building as well as all of the new WTC buildings uses actual steel beams for the floor plates and up to date and renewable fire proofing. This tower also has it's own ventilation system which filters not only air but also smoke. Trust me, this building is super safe not to mention it sits on a 200 foot concrete pedestal that can't be destroyed. The original towers didn't have a concrete core, it was sheet rock and tiny steel beams. Each of the new WTC buildings have 6 foot thick nuclear bunker grade concrete and wide stairwells. It's beautiful, I've been there many times. Nothing to fear. 🖤🖤

+Karen Andez except a parachute would not fully deploy in time to slow you down before you hit splat into the ground plus the building structure would likely interfere with the canopy unfurling. Might as well tell the building inhabitants when they jump to flap their arms on the way down the idea would be no more bizarre than your parachute scheme. Also the problem of storing 10,000-50,000 parachutes and distributing them to mostly untrained and random people is not going to work out too well. And as for the likelihood of an aircraft crashing into a particular skyscraper the biggest danger by mega far of dying would be getting killed commuting to the building.

After looking at the floor plan at 1:18, I can tell you that the doors in multiple rooms are unsafe and placed incorrectly. Doors are supposed to swing outward out of rooms, not inwards. This is a fire safety feature which largely helps to prevent jammed doors and unfeasible exits. The diagram in the video shows the directions the doors swing in, and some, if not many of them swing inward, which is a safety hazard. The doors should swing *outward, into the hallway.* But the diagram shows that many of them swing inward, into the rooms. One last thing, the fact that doors should swing outward, is not any new safety feature. In fact, in the late 1800’s in New York City, there were some major factory fires that killed hundreds (which at the time was a very big deal), and the Fire Marshall that investigated stated that the door was locked, and swinged inward which was a safety hazard that entrapped many factory workers. The fact that no one corrected this problem in this building layout, if they even noticed it, in my opinion is pretty ignorant.

I absolutely would work inside the new WTC1 building. That building is one of the safest from plane attack that you will get. Of course no building is attack proof. If a plane hit it, it would cause massive damage, and lots of people would die. But it wouldn’t be like 9/11. The stairwells in the new building are incased in like 6 feet of reinforced concrete and more strategically placed. If you were above impact, you’d most likely be able to get down this time unlike in 2001.

@@mrpurplebudman uh, what? So you think that a fully loaded 747 that weighs 910,000 lbs, going 550 mph, doesn’t have the strength to break through the outer steel walls of the twin towers?
@mattp.39495 жыл бұрын
Very impressive. The architects made sure that nothing is going to happen to this One World Trade Center building. Along with the protection provided by the reinforced concrete base, a number of other safety features were included in the building's design, so that it would be prepared for a major accident (such as a fire) or another 9/11-type terrorist suicide airplane attack. Like the brand new World Trade Center Tower 7, this building has 3-foot (91 cm) thick reinforced concrete walls in all stairwells, elevator shafts, risers, and sprinkler systems. There are also extra-wide, pressurized stairwells, along with a dedicated set of stairwells exclusively for the use of firefighters, and biological and chemical filters throughout the ventilation system. In comparison, the original Twin Towers used a purely steel central core to house utility functions, protected only by lightweight drywall panels. Much of the building's structure and interior is built from recycled materials, including gypsum boards and ceiling tiles; around 80 percent of the tower's waste products are recycled. The windows in 1 World Trade Center are equipped with specially tempered blast-resistant plastic, which looks almost like the glass used in the other sides of the building. Its structure is designed around a strong, redundant steel moment frame consisting of beams and columns connected by a combination of welding and bolting. Paired with a concrete-core shear wall, the moment frame lends substantial rigidity and redundancy to the overall building structure while providing column-free interior spans for maximum flexibility.
