Inside the Philippines pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

Ok a bit of recap on the concept and content of the pavillion. 1) the preggy diwata, giving birth to modern filipinos 😉 2) then the cultural arts in gigantic screen showing the ancient and filipino traditions. 3) the Filipino dna (lol😜) 4) then the transitioning of ancient to modern filipinos 5) the flying human sculptures representing filipinos in soaring high all over the world (i mean really?) 5) then the cafe and souvenir shop Honestly, I was a bit appreciative of the hardwork and money being put for this work. But in the back of my mind, this is an EXPO!!! It's suppose to showcase modern technology!! Exporting labor force as ofw is all we can offer?? Look at the other pavillions, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, etc most of them are for energy generation, sustainability, eco-friendly technology. And Philippines? All about Filipino culture! Char! Yan dapat ang pinapakita sa Global Village!!! THIS IS EXPO!!!!!!!! 🤦‍♂️

Magnificient, great artists! One of the artists, Patrick Cabral is my classmate in grade school and since then I remembered him as very artistic, competing to art contests in the school.

The Pavillion is beautiful, what’s in the Pavillion is a bit irrelevant to the theme of the Expo and the current global situation. We have Filipino Inventors. Our food is on its way to global mainstream. Our Fashion Designers are worthy of spotlight. Our Tourism has always been what makes us famously known for. We could have integrated the fact that we are the social media capital of the world. Perhaps a wall that will showcase the entire Archipelago by a unified hashtag and so every second, a Filipino can contribute to contents about our culture regardless of where they are across the globe. Or maybe get a snippet of where Philippine Real Estate is heading, sustainable communities. Philippines as a center for education, following the increase of expat students based in the country.

I've seen pavillions that did not really put effort and just placed pictures, paintings and so much dependent on screens. Philippines did not do that. Did you stay watch in full the interpretative dance that said so much about our country, kabayans? Us being 7100 islands? Us having so much to offer??? These were said there, interpreted as dance. The helix, that showcased maybe the carpentry design, that was an effort too! And the big blue thing outside, that's so much an effort there too! Visit other pavillions too, not just to big superpower countries that you use as basis of comparison. Then, you will see we did well too. Not enough, yes, so much could have been showcased, but not that bad too. The soaring high concept upstairs, yes, that sucks big time because not a lot would try to dig so deep what we are trying to say there.

Napansin ko sa "walk-in" cinema sa loob. Pag timing ang nasa palabas is about beaches,island resort napapa wow cla at napapa hinto at nabibighani sa kagandahan ng kalikasan ng Pinas pero pag na timing yung intro ng video clip na mahaba at masyadong ginawang artistic na pag sasadula ng origins ng philippine islands medyo napaka boaring at di adaanan lng ng mga ibang lahi. Di sya captivating sa mga walk in tourist. Parang ballet show tuloy ang theme ng fire and water. At dapat nag focus nlng cla sa tourism spots sa dami2x ng island beaches at nature spot sa pinas. Yun dapat ang pinabida nila PAULIT2x kase ang viewerd doon lahat nag mamadali.

Ikr? Ok, maybe the concept is that "as an emerging art hub (char)" kaya pinopromote. Question is, what really expo is all about? Isn't it selling or showcasing something about a country's masterpeices? So with this concept, "creative arts" and exporting of Filipino workers! Smh! Aren't we are aiming in the near future in lessening of the numbers of ofw's? Amd we can do this by strengthening our economy, through innovations and manufacturing products which can sustain our basic needs and beyond? Actually and actually some conceptualizers are too inclined in dramatic approach driving emotions. The dna? I mean really? US as a melting plot was not known for dramatizing the origins of americans. WE NEED TO MOVE ON WITH THIS!!
