@@fewworddotrick well guys, im a tried and true dirt fan ex driver and at my age i'm only able to watch now, but i'm also a nascar fan from the early 50s, no the real racing is not as good as it once was, but we have fewer driver killed or seriously injured, today instead of going in the hole at every race we have instant millionaires soon after contract signing. the simple solution is if you really hate it so much then don't watch. as annoying as the announcers are and the entertainment factor always comes before quality racing, very few of us have the skill or balls to drive inches apart at speeds of close or over 200 mph. sometimes i think the critics of nascar forget what it takes to drive one of these cars. just my opinion, old dirt late model guy and ex nascar mechanic.

Ok, so here's my take on the NASCAR thing. I'm a guilty party here and I'll admit it. I told someone just yesterday at church that I don't really watch NASCAR anymore. The reality of it is that if I'm home & nothing else is going on, I'm going to watch the race. What I really mean when I say I don't watch NASCAR anymore is that for a big majority of my life, my world revolved around it. I planned my weekends around being able to watch the Cup race and the Busch series too if I could. Since about 2017 I just don't follow it as much. I don't know all of the drivers anymore & I usually don't even know what track they are at from week to week or what time the race is. I don't have an issue with NASCAR, and like I said, if the race is on, I'll turn it on and watch it. It's just not the same situation for me as it was say 10 years ago or more. It's easier to just say I don't watch anymore. For sure though, if NASCAR is up against WoO, HL, or even Knoxville, I'm watching sprint cars instead. That wasn't an option 10 years ago and beyond.

Fixing the bodies is easy. Trim the spoiler and make the sides symmetrical and deck flat again. It would unstick the cars and make it more of a drivers game than setup. We had those rules in place once before, and they were not enforced which led us to where we are today. I dont think we need to complicate things for the few local guys that still run handmade bodies. This will just add more pages to the already stupidly thick rule book in the long run.

*_sigh_* Dirt late models aren't exactly showroom stock cars either and haven't been for many decades. This sudden need to control things feels like it happened at a completely arbitrary point in time, to me. Suddenly, everyone's started panicking for basically no reason, especially considering that even the most radically skewed cars in dirt late model racing aren't exactly sea urchins with wings sticking out everywhere like the pre-2022 F1 cars were. It's stuff like *that* which REALLY causes colossal amounts of turbulent wake, versus the large and relatively clean surfaces of about every dirt late model picture I've ever seen. Putting aside the usually vague meaning of "the racing getting worse/better", what effect has there really been apart from the usual anyway? All this really serves to do is freeze the evolution of what are, again, already highly specialized machines, and slowing or freezing the evolution of the cars _always_ makes motorsport less interesting.....especially so when the design aspects impacted are visual. TL;DR: This feels like a non-issue to me. As someone who watched Formula One intently from 2017 to 2022 and still follows MotoGP pretty closely, the appeal of the latter series is that you can often visually spot the changes in the machines, even from race to race! F1, meanwhile, deals in detail changes so small one often struggles to see their significance. Oh yeah, and then there's that Dan Binks line about sprint car and midget racing: _"But the coolest racing ever - still, they haven’t ruined it yet - is Sprint Cars and Midgets. I love it. There’s basically no rules. The car has to weigh this much and the tire has to be in this place. _*_I came from GTLM where you can’t even drill a hole in the car because it’s not on the FIA paperwork, you know? That’s not racing to me anymore._* “There’s no limits here. Whatever you can dream up, you can do. I don’t have millions of dollars. I spent all of my own money. I tell people that I spent my pontoon boat money on my Midget engine.” I'd rather dirt late models be more like sprints, midgets, and MotoGP than be more like NASCAR and F1. Maybe that's just me.

The racing has been suffering immensely from aero for nearly 10 years. This isn't a new problem, but one that continues to get worse. Non enforcement of convex roofs, tilted roofs, nose splitters, and ever reducing the frontal height of the nose are all big contributions to the synthesis of the issue. But sure, bring a laser template to check if the body is 7 degrees askew instead of 5. Play in the weeds, make compliance more complicated, when the issue is obvious.

Aero Information is FREE. CFD simulation software is FREE. Testing on track during events is FREE. These rules will just shift cost and focus to other regions of the build and we will continue to chase those with even more rules we always do. A dog chasing it’s own tail.

@model-grail-kit-hunter I like some inventivness but the shape is getting out of hand, it scarcely resembles a full bodied car anymore, just like openwheel cars dont quite resemble coups or roadsters anymore, but there is some semblance to the bodies looking the same and a big or variety in the engine cover or bars but from the side something like a sprint or silver crown champ car they still have the profile of some of the old cars especially a silver crown narrowed front end long engine bay and streamline vained top fuel tank even if they are not as pretty as the old round nose or watson roadsters when the pavement cars resembled the mile track dirt cars or had a very close shape if that makes sense, that car with the scoop hood and boomerang body that looks like something godzilla stepped on its too much, I get it you want the aero flow but its no longer looking like a car a little bit fine but that is too much.

@@manga12 look into the history of late mode bodies. They haven’t resembled cars in a long long time. Some craziness in the past are the wedge cars, side damn cars, hell even mid engine cars. The body twisting looks awesome in my opinion. Droop rules, suspension component rules ect limit the teams so they are pushing things in the body area to get an advantage. Nothing new in racing.

It was a big topic among fans and extremely less competent regnal teams or underclassman . Most whom don’t know what they’re discussing or have irrelevant opinions. AERO is the CHEAPEST area for teams to find an advantage or compete with the major players. CFD simulation is actually FREE. It’s not 1995 you don’t need a wind tunnel! Even if you do, you can make one in your own shop for under 500. Series have continued to screw up with aero and trying to fix dirty air. The wickerbill was a primary example of this incompetence and backwards thinking. We have to STOP claiming rules are necessary and are intended to reduce cost as they have traditionally and consistently proven to have an opposite effect. You cannot name a single cost savings measure that has actually saved racers money and not driven up costs! This is true for even the modified classes. This also speaks to the deranged an false narrative that our sport and modern cars are soooo technologically advanced. We constantly add rules to prevent any and all innovation. This sport has been paralyzed by overreach. This has created poor racing as its reduced variables on the track (just like cup). What we have learned from nascar is that clone racing makes for bad racing especially on the short track. This is a notion that even the most diehard nascar fans and driver would agree with as its a constant topic of discussion! The last thing we need is fans opinions about rules. I dont want a Hunt the front stan impacting the design process of my builds. Teams themselves have consistently supported ideology and rules that have consistently degraded the sport and driven up costs. We’ve been on a dangerous trajectory with rules and over reach along with this antiquated sense of nostalgia that often drives these rules. Sanctifications can’t continue to cut/copy and paste rules without any rational thought and evaluating it’s true effects on competition and costs. It’s time boomers and people of a certain age are removed from their positions. I don’t need a technological fearing dinosaur born before the Vietnam war deciding the limits of sports evolution. Nor do I need a man with a high school diploma as his highest level of education who graduated in a tiny rural town, graduating mid class deciding our sports technical limits. A body can be built and hung in any shop for free. It’s the most basic part of car construction that any competent racer can do. Testing and research is FREE and can be conducted through on track throughout the season. It only requires a very primitive comprehension of aero dynamics. Information is readily available and FREE. Cad is available for FREE. CFD software is FREELY available and accessible! You can get a person of fiver or upwork to model your car for almost nothing and also run simulation/analysis! The gains are cheaper and easier then hydraulics and shocks. People treat technology and advances like its 1682 in Salem Massachusetts.

This channel and other coverage including social media is a contributing factor to this nonsense. Innovation and off track competition was the cure genetics of this sport. Something modern generations and newer favs fail to comprehend. Most dint have any concept of what good racing was like. They support overbearing rules that continue to drive up costs and reduce car count and front gate sales. They don’t know what it was like to have a few hundred cars at the track each night, or ti have to show up hours early to get a seat in the stands. Rules contributed to these changes along with industry greed. The most primitive cognition can comprehend the fact that teams will still try to twist the rules regardless of how strict they are and hard rules will only shift the focus and the cost to other areas of the car. We’ve witnessed it a million times. If any dirt fan substantiates or otherwise supports the rules and procedures of nascar then they don’t fully grasp the industry or Motorsports in general. Those rules In nascar drastically drove up costs of the sport. They made it far more difficult for small teams to compete, reduced employment with the teams and slaughtered the quality of racing. The attendance continued to fell off too. Even with the new single supply car which was slated to reduce costs have driven up costs (something reported publicly by nearly ever team) it’s also killed the quality of racing (a well known fact ). In what works would it be logical to mimic that environment and failed ideology? Regardless of one’s bias towards nascar anyone with the most primitive of common sense would avoid templeting that model. Body rules are strict enough in all series on dirt. Period!

I think Nascar. Sucks I definitely don't ever watch it I do like Indy car but I gave up my good seats at the brick yard years ago when I struggled to get face value after hurrying back from Eldora and gave up my spring Michigan tickets that I got from my dad who had been getting them for many years Nascar is not worth my time and I havenot watched a race for over 20 years lol
Is it over before it really started?
