Interesting note about the big oval office rug you see the beginning of the video. That was only actually in Reagan’s oval office his final seven months in office starting in June 1988. Before that he had the same yellow and blue rug that presidents Carter and Ford had used since 1976.

Close but it was actually installed in 1987

@@warrenrhinerson6373 Sorry, but not correct. Photos in the Oval Office dated as late as April and May 1988 show the same yellow and blue Ford /Carter rug. this was installed in June 1988 during his last summit in Russia. I have researched The White House and Oval Office for all 20th century presidents.

@@robertyates9500 actually it is correct. There are photos from 1987. That does show this rug installed according to the US national archives, and the Reagan presidential library. I have also researched presidential history and oval office design of the 20th century. This rug was installed in 1987, but it is unclear when in 1987 it was installed

This is such a gorgeously nice replica of President Reagan oval office. Makes me wish he was sitting on the chair at his desk today. I miss his can do optimism and his eternal undying optimism. President Reagan will always be my favorite president and my most beloved president. God bless Ronald Reagan. I thank you all for such a amazing work at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Library.

Did you hear Reagan on the Nixon tapes?

@@warrenrhinerson6373 Two seemed quite jovial in their racist rants.

@@seanwebb605 if you listen to the full tape(of which only a very small part of seems to be focused on), only one person laughs, and it’s Nixon giving a more nervous laugh. You can tell Reagan was speaking out of anger, and his actions both before and after the tape was made clearly show Reagan was no racist. Was he a flawed person? Of course. But your also trying to judge a man who lived in the 1960’s by todays standards and expect him to live up to them 100%
@seanwebb6053 ай бұрын
@@warrenrhinerson6373 No he was racist. On the full tape both men make racist comments and agree with each other. Reagan's son came to the same conclusion and was disappointed with his father. His policies hurt visible minorities and he was called out for it. Nixon and Reagan were racist by the standards of that time and today's standards. Even Reagan points out the criticism he faced. It's in his book An American Life. Yeah, I read the full thing. I read Walter Cronkite's book too. Reagan stole many of his stories. He stole a Cronkite story about broadcasting a baseball game and the line feeding him the information on an away game goes down.

Not to be nitpicky, but a slight correction about the comment of Reagan being 6‘2“. He was not that tall. Vice President Bush was 6’e” and Reagan was notably shorter than him, more like 6 feet even. His official physical description listed in biography says 6’1,, which was probably when he was a little bit younger and hadn’t started to shrink a little bit with age.

Reagan wasn’t the one who added that it was Kennedy who added because of the same reason the said Reagan did. I still love Reagan even as a Democrat but at least get your facts straight
@warrenrhinerson63733 ай бұрын
Actually the base Kennedy added was removed as it was too high for President Carter and was painted black so it didn’t match the rest of the desk. When Reagan entered office he had the current one installed to raise the desk back to where it had been under Kennedy
