This song is musical architecture. It's a sonic painting. What creative vision Freddie had!! Also, I never realized how often Freddie changes the tonal key center throughout the song. When the vocals are removed, it's much more apparent. He used the lead and harmony vocals to transition smoothly into new keys and back again. So with the vocals removed, the key changes come as much more of a surprise. Freddie had the soul of a classical composer. Had he been trained in classical composition from an early age, I'm sure he could have been a very good composer.

Just an amazing documentary. Brian May's walkthrough on the song, with all these parts being isolated, is almost like DaVinci explaining each stroke of the Mona Lisa. Bohemian Rhapsody is not only a rock and roll classic, its one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, and the idea of it is so unique and "out there", that it is fascinating to watch and listen to the creation of it. Theres never been a song quite like it. Thank you so much for uploading this.

Watching and listening to this video, one is in total awe of the complexity of arrangement and achievement in recording technology in order to make Bohemian Rhapsody a reality. But the real mind bender is knowing that Freddie heard all this in his head before the first note was even recorded to tape.

I grew up with Queen. Too bad it has taken this long for me to appreciate the true genius of the entire band. I can honestly say that I cannot listen to most of their songs without crying. Freddie was hauntingly beautiful...so many facets to him. I have come to see there there was a very spiritual side to him.
@slowgaffle6 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about not appreciating the complexities of the production when you first listen to it. They wanted you to feel the end result without thinking about it; all the little touches were put there to get you closer to how you feel listening to it as a whole. I promise you that is how they wanted it.

+handidrummed no one does many things anymore.. the world isnt the same ...thanks to computers! we've lost the human touch in our intellectual persuit. we seek perfection by computers and in the process sound like one too in terms of mastering and recording ambiance: sparkly, no warmth, overdoes of synthetic frequencies to our ears

Queens use TONNES of multi tracking!
@sampark178 жыл бұрын
racheid77 when you track multiple parts and layer them like this its knows as 'multi-tracking', it has nothing to do with autotune, auto tune artificially corrects discrepancies in pitch in the recording of the performance.
@flexibilitymanager8 жыл бұрын
no he didn't
@daniel7877 жыл бұрын
In this case, layered multiple recordings are done to make the illusion of a big choir. In other cases Freddie used the double voice effect maybe because the effect he obtained was great. In conclusion it's not a matter of pitch or sound correction it is just true art.

Such brilliance. Bo Rhap is an absolute masterpiece, masterfully composed by Freddie, and executed by four virtuoso musicians in him, Brian, Roger, and John. Such an incredibly tight band, in the studio and live, who were innately synchronized on a whole other level; they played almost intuitively together. You can see how Brian is still moved and just taken away by the music, even track by track. And yes, Freddie was a fabulous pianist, better than he would ever admit to. Phenomenal, phenomenal song, and worth the enormous risk they took in putting it out there; that goes for the balance of the album as well.
