I had my first flight on one a couple of months ago. Quite simply, the most amazing aircraft I have been in. Its size takes your breath away.

It would be nice if the title included the year when this was fresh information (ten years ago in this case). This video is ancient history

It honestly does live up to the hype, by far the best economy experience imo. Cabin is super quiet & comfy, especially with Emirates who naturally due to economies of scale, have got their A380 operations globally nailed down to a tee. Took 4 times in a few months when backpacking south east asia with a few day layover in Dubai, all flights were spot on.

AIRBUS A380 had its first flight in service in October 2007, by Singapore Airlines. Certainly more than the "8 years ago" mentioned. Video was uploaded 28th Dec 2024, and mention ought to be made at beginning perhaps with a notice saying "this video was first broadcast on.."? Just a thought, for clarity since the presenter mentions a time period.

Has it ever crossed your mind this is an old video that was only just now uploaded to KZbin? This is usually always the case for BBC content, they make it for their own channels & then upload it years later.

..i would also add that while overhauling the entire aircraft is a good practice, what also needs regular overhauling and upgrading is the entire manufacturing and management systems for all airline makers..to ensure every step is 100% + quality assured..our devices such as apple smartphones and OS get regular updates..even if the user doesn't update themselves..a reminder comes on saying " your device is scheduled for an update later today"..hopefully the same goes on with manufacturing and management.. I will comment further later when i have some time..refering to a comment further down the list by a former Boing member at Everett..

Former Boeing Everett... performing Heavy Maintenance takes longer than building a Brand New Plane and much harder too... we can build a new plane in 1 week... Heavy Maintenance can take 1 month... of the 4 million individual parts in an A-380... over 1 million are rivets...

..so how do they fix microcracks..? Also.. do they just replace entire components rather than only inspecting and putting it back..such as complete landing gear systems..and inspecting the ones removed to see where any critical wear is occuring before approving the new ones for flight worthiness..to me anyway, the landing wheel system seems to be the component that takes the hardest punishing abuse for a brief few moments until the aircraft stabilizes on the runway..but there could be other systems which also takes punishing abuse that i'm not aware of..and oh ! dont forget the abuse toilets get from the hundreds of people consuming all that rich exotic food on long haul transcontinent flights..😂

@ShahMrs17 күн бұрын
It's an incredible engineering feat, but it's not the best plane to work on... servicing costs are ridiculously expensive...and that's just prior to each take off. And the load space in the rear hold is pretty poor compared to a A350 or 777. That said, I'd like to take a trip on one before they're taken out of service, just for the experience 😊
@sg-px5vh13 күн бұрын
Its crazy how many parts an aircraft has. All it takes is one part to go wrong for a crash. It's a miracle that crashes are rare with that many failure points.
@bobblebob10012 күн бұрын
Not really. Planes dont have single point of failure. They have lots of redundancy built in
