You can genuinely see that he in is element. And that he enjoys his job. I'm quite addicted to this series. I love it. He is also the perfect narrator with his pleasant voice with his very mild but someway pronounced British accent. I could listen to him all day. I don't want to be rude or so... but could it be that he was a Tanker? His stature and the way he moves fits the norm. If yes... The challenger 2 perhaps ?

I think he has the crew positions confused, as do most people with this tank destroyer. The commander should be in the front, right, and behind the radio operator/bow MG gunner. The reason I say this is because of the periscope in the front right. It is a rotating style, and has the same hatch in it for mounting the binoculars/range finding equipment to that only the commander used. This same rotating periscope design was used in the Jagdtiger, and the commander was in the same spot. The loader could have stood behind him, or behind the gunner, as there would be ample space.

NO ONE. the Germans won with shit mark 2 and 3 tanks and best tactics first,the allied defeated them with a lot of average tanks and ww1 tactics and their massive,massive numbers. the type of a tank itself was so unimportant actually.raw materials and fuel won or lost war,nthg else. german skills just lenghtened the war unnecessarily.

+alleskaese not really, russian know thaty had solid crap on tracks at the time so they created very big guns like 122 and 152 that shot a 55 kg shell, the impact of this kind of shell is so strong that can crack the armor plate and open the tank like a can of tuna without an actual penetration, hundreds of panthers where destroyed this way
@alleskaese9 жыл бұрын
+nabucodonosor II Not really, the 122 and especially the 152 was very inefficient as a anti tank gun, the fire rate from max 2 shot per minute and the accuracy was to bad for this. On the outside that tank looks great, but the inside is another issue altogether. I'm actually shocked that they have let it remain in that state of disrepair. I'd bet the breech is rusted shut, and probably none of the gun adjustment devices work. Its as if they found the tank in a field somewhere and decided to leave the interior rusty.
@VT-mw2zb8 жыл бұрын
+HighlanderNorth1 Perhaps they should learn it from the Russians. Russians don't throw their obsolete vehicles and weapons away. Perhaps scrap some for some raw materials, but mostly smear the shit out of every surface with cosmoline and shove it into some depilated warehouse for storage. If the frontline first echelon active divisions got wiped out in an invasion, ala Red army circa 1941, then perhaps the reserve vehicles, they will activate the reserves and drag these out of storage. No time to wipe off the grease (if you buy a Russian surples gun, you will know the pain of scrapping cosmoline out of every surface), the crew's uniform will do that. Besides, it will probably be destroyed before the crew can get too discomforted. Then you crank up wartime production. Then the third wave of new tanks will crush the enemy. This is a museum; but at least please slap some Renaissance Wax on them, please
@mediocrefunkybeat8 жыл бұрын
+HighlanderNorth1 They probably did find it in a field somewhere. The Tank Museum runs on limited funds so they have to make choices as to which vehicles they fully restore. The exterior is more important, as that's what most people visiting will see.

At around 4:50 it is mentioned that the sloping of the armor increases the relative thickness of the armor (using a horizontal measurement) without any increase in weight. This is not correct. By sloping the armor, the plate must cover a larger area than if set vertically. It is a matter of basic geometry. Yes, you reduce the area that the top armor must cover, but don't forget that top armor is much thinner (hence lighter) than the thick frontal armor. The additional area of the plate comes at the cost of additional weight.
