NIL came crashing in and we are on our way to a top 5 class 3 years in. Total class ranking was like No.7 including transfers Riley’s first year so I don’t think the issue is nearly as bad as it’s been proposed.

Great point, Chris, about Dante, who was a great recruiter but apparently not a coach who elevates his guys. My gut tells me that Belk is going to be night and day better.

Gentlemen, I agree that you identified the position group(s) of concern correctly, Oline that is thin and unproven in more than one spot. Do you believe they could still bring in a transfer that would be able fill in the holes? I am skeptical of that and the 2 targets (kid from A&M or Colorado seem to have questions). Secondly the Dline is missing 1-2 big bodies, there might be guys on the roster now but they were looking in the portal for a reason. Same question for a Dline transfer?

At one point, the group needs to address the 600# gorilla in the room: WHY is USC losing out on so many bigtime recruits, sometimes to Oregon, other times to other schools? It seems as if the common denominator is that SC is always a bridesmaid, seldom a bride, suggesting that the reason may be a philosophical one that starts and ends at the highest levels at the university. In other words, Folt or Cohen or someone is not on board with playing the money game with recruits and so the Trojans are losing one blue chipper after another. Maybe you have covered this, if so, sorry, I missed it. But the issue needs to be tackled head on since I am skeptical that even very good coaches with 3-star guys will not beat decent coaches with 5-star guys.

Maybe kids don’t like U$C. You can’t force a kid to play at your school and you guys constantly whining could be it. Or the fact that your coaching staff directly shits on Oregon to recruits and their families. Most recruits don’t like that behavior it’s sad and pathetic 😂.

Here we go guys! Let’s do this thing…. Anthony Lucas. Yes, he is a bit of an enigma. Where did all of that talent go? Was it ever there to begin with. The answers to those question are: a - nowhere, he still has it and b - he wasn’t developed properly. Let’s focus on that last answer. Under Coach Henderson, he will be developed. This coach knows how to develop players! I will eat my lunch if this doesn’t happen next season. Literally. Yes, I plan on eating my lunch then and whenever eating my lunch suits me. So there. But yes, he will improve. By the way we have breaking news: Chris Arledge doesn’t like the coaching style that Clay Helton employed. Yes, that’s right. Our head coach who among other efforts, led our defensive unit to become the 997th place defense in the country. I’m with Chis here. Helton did miss the mark. I feel all of that pain but it is from our recent past. Our recent past includes more recent things which are also painful. I won’t enumerate them. My fingers are crossed by this stunning cast or coaches who have agreed to come on board under Lincoln Riley to help “right the ship”. And I think they will. You should too.

Concerning what Chris was talking about recruiting wise with SC. I think it’s time that SC start catering to players of today. And that may mean having more options of uniforms to play in on Saturdays. SC has a rich history and I know a lot of fans don’t like to see changes in things such as uniforms. But change is supreme and inevitable. A few flashy uniforms won’t hurt the traditions of the Trojans it only can add on it. The money situation will work itself out if SC is serious about winning championships. As one other gentleman has mention fans need to start looking at the administration and ask the question are they willing to give Riley or any coach the necessary tools to compete on a equal playing field? Does 2 women in Folt and Cohen who’s making the final judgment regarding a man’s sport care enough to do everything it takes to put SC in the best place possible for the program itself? Do they have that competitive nature to win at all cost like most men have who just happens to be ADs at the schools that were chasing to get into championship consideration yearly? Lastly, is the football program the most important sports program to the university? Food for thought Trojan fan and Fight On✌🏾

Of course the NIL situation is a big factor, probably the biggest, but Oregon has also been a more popular, more prominent, bigger brand to high school kids, nationally, compared to USC, for at least 5 years now. More kids in, e.g., Florida, walk around wearing Oregon gear, than they do USC gear. Oregon is _cooler_ than USC.

Not to sunshine pump but it the lack of willingness to mortgage the farm so to speak about defensive tackles might point to the faith in the ability of what we currently have on the roster. Clifton and Pepe and Bear and Shelby and Lucas and the freshmen behind might be pretty damn good.

Mr. McKinney is overly pessimistic about the O-line, It's the time playing together with proper coaching that jells an O line. We are young but we'll be better this year. Re Cal and UCLA, they are both technically the same public school. It raises different issues than a USC which is a private school. So it's not what UCLA's leaving cost the PAC 12, it's what it's costing the Publicly funded California UC system.

Move an O lineman (Talelele) to nose and he can be coached up. Move Walter Matthews to O-line -- he has perfect size and is athletic enough (basketball player). Remember Keith van Horne who came in as a tight end? 10 year NFL all-pro.
