I think GetGudNami and Tarhead were far more damaging, they border on creepy and psychological where I just see John as an idiot dependent on internet validation. BUT John Bob being the figurehead of this massive group of artists really didn't help his case. At that point there was no real way he could defend or save himself. What a depressing period, crazier that these reveals were so close to each other too. There are some lessons to learn here about the lure of social media.

Like I'm 21 and I didn't realise how easy it is to overlook someones age until I went back to finish high school (dropped out for medical reasons the first time), I assumed since its an "adult learning environment" (their words idk how else to put it) that everyone there would be at least 18 but more around my age, I was wrong. Apparently quite a few kids just go directly there to complete year 11 and 12 instead of staying at high school because they find the different class structure less stressful, I was like halfway into the term before I learned this and realised that half the people I was talking to were 16/17 years old, we're just not used to interacting with minors since adults don't encounter them irl outside of specific circumstances and minors don't encounter adults irl outside of specific circumstances so the idea that they could in fact be part of the same social age group fucks a lot of people up when they find themselves in the middle of it. I'm definitely more mature than a 17 year old, but it's really not that easy to tell when most situations don't require a huge amount of maturity to handle, it's only really evident when you end up talking about things like mental health or relationships but the problem there is I'm also more mature about those things than most people my age, and people with mental health conditions who are likely to turn to twitter as a source of social interaction and comfort are less mature than most people my age, which puts them a lot closer in maturity to minors than people expect them to be.
@taylorwest84653 жыл бұрын
@@butasimpleidiotwizard Yeah you can be friends with teens, and socially I would say around 16-22 can get on very well. @butasimpleidiotwizard3 жыл бұрын
@@taylorwest8465 you asked why so many twitter artists end up being into teenagers so I answered, I didn't say that it was okay or rational or that most people would fall into it it's just that twitter artists usually have the toxic mix of circumstances that make them less likely to have problems dating 16 year olds, most of them (under about 21/22) are not into kids, they just don't register for the reasons I said earlier that 16 year olds are not adults.

@@Tanookicatoon And that's bad because... why? "let's hold every immature thing every immature person has done to them to make them accountable!" is not a healthy way to have people grow, they have to be willing to fess up to their wrong doings, and being hostile toward them out the door isnt going to make that happen. Its just going to make them scared and hide, to which they wont change, theyll just run from the situation because theyre being attacked. That is not to say people can't be angry or offended, but if you cant even be mature enough to hold back your anger and not lash out at someone doing or saying something controversial, giving them the chance to redeem themselves, then you shouldnt be trying to teach others how to better themselves or correct behavior If you genuinely want people to change, you need to give them the chance to change. Platforms like Twitter bullying people for edgy shit theyve done is not justice, its self indulging harrassment campaign Twitter users use in an attempt to feel better about themselves for attacking a perceived bad guy Of course this doesn't apply to people who've done actually malicious (ie they've caused actual emotional/physical/sexual/mental harm on someone) shit, and if they dont want to change, but someone like a teenager saying an edgy joke, or someone generally having risque humor, when they know it's not their view, that it's just over the top humor, or somebody who thinks it's wrong and wants to change, those people are not malicious at all. Certainly not close enough to warrant people threatening them online over it.

Months before JB groomer drama, I was beginning to slowly pull away from his circle piece by piece. I was actually prepping a statement pretty much cutting off ties both from the group and his animations, including my characters(even though it was just Sheep I wanted to make it clear that I no longer wanted anything to do with him whatsoever) I basically was planning the best way to escape from it all. It all started when I began to have a real strange gut feeling that something just was not right, I just could not really put my finger on it. Some of it was due to how he would go about things both in twitter and discord, to how he would be all "soft innocent sfw boi only" yet at the same time running both a NSFW page and even a NSFW server in his discord. It was like he had a double standard or just did not know exactly how to go about things. A majority of the reason I was upset due to the fact that he would not bother crediting me in hardly any animations Sheep was included in. He did for the first few vids and post, but as he got bigger he stopped doing that more and more(including many other artist characters he would feature) He even had a voice actor for her and CREDITED HER BUT STILL DID NOT BOTHER TO CREDIT ME. Many people asked me why I didnt say anything sooner, well thats the thing. The guy had a huge following over night and didn't have the best control over his following, I even seen him basically weaponizing his following against people that rubbed him the wrong way(not really going out to cancel but still, you know the internet). Then you got me, with a much smaller following compared to his, the last thing I wanted was him to send his followers at me and making me look like a bad guy when in reality I was just tired how he basically took over my character that people would start thinking I was just some weird obsessed fan artist, Sheep was even considered to be HIS mascot due to how he even used her for promoting his follower goals. Thats it, that is what basically what made me mad the most. He took something of mine and made it his own and would basically leave me in the dark when it came to input or would just ignore it. I would at rare times get random messages and wips from him but he would be basically done with whatever animation he was going to use her in. 90% of the time I would only find about his animations featuring Sheep via stumbling across it on my TL or someone messaging me about it. Though people thought I was a friend, I really wasnt. I tried, i really did but it just felt like he took what needed from me and thats it. Nothing else. I would always be left in the dark and it was frustrating that I found it pointless to even bother and also why I decided to try and step out. When the groomer reveal happened, I used it as a chance to say screw it and take a dive and reclaim what was mine. I burned away every bridge I had that even associated with him, even went through to nuke every interaction I might have had, including saved works from him. It was a challenge but thanks to the help from both friends, followers and complete strangers, I manage to reclaim what was truly mine. I even had people making post and clarifying which characters where his and which were not. At the end of the day though it was hard for alot of us. I consider myself just a bystander who just had the luck of being dragged in for the ride, but man I could not have imagined what those who where actually close to him felt like. As you pointed out, many of us drifted away from each other now, or well I feel like I drifted off the furthest but I have nothing against many of those who where in his circle(except for Tarhead, for obvious reasons) The only one I still talk to is Choco who has been a good friend through this all. As for everyone else I still interact with them time to time and all I can say is that I wish for the best for each and all of them.

Honestly, John is probably the lesser of the evils here, and has the highest chance of working on himself, as a dumb 18 year old might not be able to see it as wrong at first. Because a three year gap would be fine, if they were both 18 or older. He needs to stay off the internet for a long ass while, get therapy, rethink his choices. The other two were far worse, victim blaming and especially the fucking 30 year old man. Have you done a video on that guy yet? I'd love to watch one, I have no idea who any of these people are

@MR Hamster agree with this. What he did was reckless at best. An 18 y/o dating someone three years their junior is not fucking pedo shit. I need to say again, people need to take this energy out on the grown and powerful predators in places like hollywood and even the internet and irl in general. It’s like people want to be involved in something without having to actually witness what it really looks like. This is reckless youngsters, y’all are equating this to a poor child getting forced into a relationship with a fully grown adult. It’s scary, the second you turn 18 you have lost any semblance of childishness you once had, according to everyone I’ve seen here, and it’s just not the case. The world is not black and white

16:46 This message from John (as he is querying his pissed off fans through DMs) is really easy to miss as the video moves along, but it contains one of potentially many different ways John as a predator was attemping to put a spin on the situation that would buy him some reasonable doubt and maybe even sympathy. In this message, John has cobbled together a defense that goes something like, "It is unfortunate for all parties involved, including me (John) that fans mistakenly assumed I was 'squeaky clean' and normal based solely upon the fact that I happened to have a public image that was squeaky clean and normal, which I just happened to have crafted and maintained for myself as a sheer coincidence that was totally unbeknownst to me and out of my hands. Had my public image happened to instead reflect my true self as a depraved and selfish pedophile, then they would have been able to make an informed decision to be my fans anyway and then they would have been spared the shock and distress regarding these unfortunate revelations about my true predatory nature. We're all victims here - victims of some really unlucky circumstances. And no one moreso than myself. Talk about some rotten luck."

My old wolf OC at 3:05 in the video. I was his first GF and created a small community on google plus. He had us do a project called cakewalk, but I can't even describe how bad some of the shit he put me through was. Me and some of those people (I'm longer friends with a few or our relationships are strained at best right now) have stuff that hasn't been shared. Perhaps if you considered making any type of follow-up you could tell our story that hasn't been heard yet? He constantly talked about his mommy issues and forced his sexual troubles onto me when I was pretty depressed. I used to go by WolfyDeWolf but pretty soon after our horrible relationship and him constantly venting about how sinful he was, lonely he was, and other personal stuff about NSFW that I can't mention. I can say he talked about getting off to things in detail which I made clear was uncomfortable. I have to mention he is 3 years older, and that I was in 13 and he was 16. I remember once he drew me with pretty big boobs, and why I can say me is because the blond wolf girl was basically just me but as a wolf girl. I can go on, though it's actually kind of hard to look at this avatar without my heart beating hard. I was silent for almost 4 whole years and that has made me mentally unstable to this day. I tried to forgive him because an old friend told me he was better and it was at the time I had people who hurt me, like a bully, show me kindness. He was dismissive about stuff he did but I was still trying to hope. Literally a week after his non-apology to me the grooming stuff came out. That's when I messaged him that he could have stopped with me, I could have been the last one he mentally fucked up with his constant manipulation. I also told him to leave the internet and seek actual help instead of relying on underage people to fill his social and sexual desires for intimacy. The last thing I have screenshot which was what I put on twitter after sharing what he'd done. I could help provide some more stuff from 2016 if needed. Please, anyone reading this. Help keep the dude off the internet. Personally I believe he's a danger to society. That old ex-friend group of mine legit joked about the dude being a future cult leader. Keeping him away from the internet and kids is best.

Like I showed my gf, who was groomed as a teen this video, and she unironically thought that tarheads 15 year old gf was in the wrong for leaking the convos, saying "she was the more immature one" and she should have understood why he yelled and got mad at her, saying "she should have cared for him more and tried to comfort him" Like jeez, i swear they get brainwashed into believing its always their fault, ive been trying to get her to be more assertive and strong willed since we started dating.
@butasimpleidiotwizard3 жыл бұрын
@@IiImonix3 thats because they literally do get brainwashed into believing it's all their fault, the point of grooming is to make the minor think they're on equal footing with their abuser while their abuser holds all the power over them, whether the abuser is aware of it or not (many "adults" (under 21 usually) who groom genuinely believe they're on equal footing with minors because they lack maturity for whatever reason, their emotional development was stunted in some way which makes them dangerous), it makes it very hard for the victim to understand that they were not in any way responsible for anything that happened to them, and that others in the same situation are equally not responsible for their own abuse.
@butasimpleidiotwizard3 жыл бұрын
@@IiImonix3 like I somehow got convinced when I was 15/16 that my friend's (14/15) ""boyfriend"" who was in his mid 20s was fine and my friend would be able to handle it if he turned out to be creepy, as if him talking to her in the first place wasn't already super creepy and not okay, just because he'd groomed her into believing that it was okay and she could trust him and she in turn repeated that to me and reassured me that I didn't need to step in and tell somebody because she was totally fine. It took me a few years to unlearn that and realise that teenagers cannot under any circumstances be in a healthy relationship with an adult and if an adult is going after them that way that is already really wrong and the adult needs to be stopped, not the kid.

The ONLY way a pedophile or groomer can ever "redeem" themself is by going to therapy long term and actively working to make people who has thoughts like they did seek proffessional help, therefore lowering the potential number of victims being groomed or minors being sexually approached. But nah, instead, they take the pity route feeling bad for themselves. A lot of them do not regret what they did, they only regret being caught.

I was a key member of that community. I won't say who I was in this video, but I was part of it. A big part of it. And let me tell you this: It was destroyed. Reduced to ash. As soon as this whole ordeal went down, the community fell apart. Distrust and discord grew throughout our relationships. The people I once talked to every day and drew and posted comics for every day grew distant. I felt like I couldn't face them anymore after what happened. Even the most popular ones who continued going for a little while afterwards have stopped now. Or straight up don't interact with anyone anymore. It's heartbreaking to watch. And 3 years later, I still struggle to look at their pages.

moral of the story, be careful of your actions online, be careful of the things you send to people, always ask for a persons age before sending nsfw content and if that person refuses to tell you their age, don't send shit and don't ask for shit in return. if they're of age still ask them if they're comfortable to be sent nsfw content, some are not. always ask before just doing, some people are not okay with their characters being featured in nsfw content. always be polite when interacting with another human being. at least that's what i've gleamed from this.

The issue is man the younger the individuals are in a relationship with an age gap, the "bigger" the gap actually is. I'm twenty. If I happened to catch feelings for a twenty three year old I'd catch some heat, but, not that much. In less than a year's time I'll be seen as "mature" enough to legally consume a highly addictive mind altering drug (alcohol). So of course I am seen as legally mature enough to consent to an intimate relationship with someone older than me, hell even if they're old enough to be my dad there's still nothing stopping my consent from being viable in court. Thing is, subtract three years from my age. At 17 (with the exception of a provisional which is very rare & hard to get) I've only been able to drive by myself (by law) for a year. Why? Eighteen months ago I was seen as too immature, too likely to make a decision without fully seeing the consequences to be trusted with a powerful vehicle. To be trusted with my life and the lives of everyone around me. Oh, and, not a day before my 17th birthday has the government deemed me mature enough to see an R/TVMA/NC17 program by myself at any establishments. At 17 I will be seeing my first mature films, first horror movie etc, in theatres without an adult present. Now think about if, hypothetically, at 17 I caught feelings for a 20 year old. Again, at 20 you are almost deemed mature enough to consume a highly addictive mind altering chemical. You are almost mature enough to book your own hotel room, Airbnb etc. You have been seeing gorey sexy movies (by yourself) for three years now. You have been trusted with actual human lives driving by yourself for four years. I hope you see what I'm getting at. That 20 year old 17 year old me wants to date? They have more life experience. They have had to make more serious decisions than me. They are *better* at making decisions than I am. For all intents and purposes, they are "smarter" than me. If you don't get that 17 year olds shouldn't date 20 year olds... ugh, think about it this way. If I'm 17 hanging out with a group of 21 year olds and they are drinking booze? Yeah, it'd be fucked up and illegal for them to let me drink booze too. It's up to them to BABYSIT me and watch what I'm putting in my body. If they are supposed to stop me from doing drugs (alcohol, cigarettes etc), well then they're supposed to stop me from having sex too. Same goes for a 20 year old. If they're the only one that sees me take a beer from the fridge (even though they can't drink either) it's up to them to *once again BABYSIT* me. It's up to them to say "what are you doing? Put it back". So, it should be up to them to tell me I can't do sexual things either- just like I can't put certain chemicals in my body. I know that in my state I could legally do sexual things at 17. That doesn't make it right for me to do those with someone that OBVIOUSLY knows better than I do (someone older). Especially when you realize the second someone tries to film a 17 year old doing what they're "legally allowed to do" it's a crime. A felony, which if you don't know means prison not jail. I.e you'll be locked up with other felons, maybe even murderers. Tldr: 18 and 15 IS a huge age gap, but 20 and 23 is not.
@OMalleyTheMaggot3 жыл бұрын
@@ilikebigboysonly8456 Man I don't give a shit what the govt says, noone considers an 18 year old to be an adult. Not defending him to be clear. I actually had a family member do similar things at a similar age and he was a little pervert too. Idk I feel like if my hypothetical daughter were in a relationship with a 3 year age gap I'd feel the need to evaluate the person she was interested in first before I'd put a stop to it.
@ilikebigboysonly84563 жыл бұрын
@@OMalleyTheMaggot As someone's daughter I can tell you that while she may hate your guts, scream and holler how much you're ruining her life, she will thank you for *not evaluating the person* after all is said and done *when and only when* she has entered womanhood. Which I agree with you- won't be the second she turns 18. Where do you draw the line? 14 and 17? 13 and 16? Why make it so fine, so easily crossed, when you could plain and simple reject the Romeo and Julliette laws until they aren't even applicable anymore? Sons and daughters have all the time in the world to explore their sexuality. A fifteen year old boy or girl does not need to be buddy buddy with an eighteen year old boy or girl. I was a kid that was sexually abused at a young age, we're talking barely pubescent. I was a kid that for the life of me could not understand why my parents rejected my girlfriend, my boyfriends, when I knew they knew I had already lost my innocence in their own home from their own adult son. (I was adopted, by family so the son was still related but our "mother" had him in the late 70s) It made me furious, it didn't stop me from continuing to have sex far too young, it didn't undo the damage that had been done. I still resent them for how they treated me and how they treat their pedophile son. I still have major issues. But goddammit would I be so much worse had I been allowed to have half the sex I wanted to at 12, 13, 14, 15, yes even at 16, 17, 18, 19, and to this day do they make it clear I'd better not fuck in their house. Don't get to know some person two or three grades above your child daughter. Tell them to fuck right on off, straight to the next unfortunate girl they'll undoubtedly set their sights on. Likely the same *week* they had their sights on her. Same goes for your son, boys need to be protected too. I personally know one that was abused by an older female, it happens and no they are not "lucky to get a chance with a woman" like some absolute idiots say with that shit eating grin on their face. I guarantee you they will look back on it, with that beer they're legally allowed to drink in hand, and they will tell you they dodged a fucking bullet- thanks for pushing them out of the way.

holy shit thank you for mentioning the old stuff too, especially the "mine" art at 3:06. i was actually in that friend group at the time so it was quite the shock to see that art. i've already said a lot in the comments of goose boose's video, being a former friend of john's. you know what was pretty messed up in a way? he already had a decent sized friend group, with a bunch of smaller artists. i remember when he started drawing the twitter artists with bigger followings, and once he became friends with them, i noticed that he didn't talk to any of us as much. he craved the validation that the bigger artists would give him, so i guess that's one reason why he didn't particularly care for the friends that he had a longer time. because in comparison to those guys on twitter, we were small potatoes, and we wouldn't get him the engagement he wanted so bad. it had hurt at the time cause we knew each other for 4 years, and i stayed friends cause i was expecting him to change for the better and mature. that... didn't really seem to happen at all. but what he did do well was getting groups of people together to be friends, and a good amount of the people i knew in 2016-2017 are still my friends or im still acquainted with. the other friend group, the one from 2019 to when he exposed himself, we're all still friends too. thanks for this video. there's was a ton of other stuff i knew about him and the past, and how it really shows that he didn't really change much from when i first met him. once again that's in a comment i made on goose boose's video, and i don't really feel like reposting it here as the comment and the replies do a good job of explaining stuff.

as a small aside about the video, it would've been a good idea to get in touch with those who were friends with him at the time, and to do a little more research and go more in depth on certain topics. other than that it was a decent abridged version of what happened. good luck on your future projects, and dont be afraid to dive deeper and ask people for permission to use their work going forward!

dude i completely forgot about the ‘mine’ art until i watched this video. looking back at it is scary and unnerving stuff to be honest. seeing his art of my old character kinda makes me feel a bit nauseous haha its weird how theres a whole section of his early friends thats been completely missed here, though, that the only mention of us is that picture.

kinda funny how "close friends" of his like Snappy Eagle tried to throw shade at NSFW artists for being groomers when he literally accepts fan art of his underage fans drawing him under wear edits of crash bandicoot. The sfw art community is so weird with its uwu soft boi persona and they shade nsfw artists with being open with our degeneracy and then end up being exposed for allowing kids into they space and being inappropriate

I've come to see that most NSFW artists are strangely a lot more honest than the sfw "soft artists." Not to say all of them are bad, though ever since John Bob and Commodore though my perception on them isn't exactly the greatest.

It's kind of amazing how sometimes the Horny community seems a lot better compared to other communities especially the more puritan ones.
