I'm not against AI or robots or increasing efficiency and productivity. Nor am I against companies wanting to save costs on labor to increase their profit margin... But when I hear CEOs or tech companies say that these new technologies will "offload... humans to... get more training" etc. I'll just have to roll my eyes because when the reporter asks if this will take jobs away from humans the only answer is yes. It won't be right away but it will happen as soon as these technologies become ubiquitous. Just be honest and then no one will accuse you of lying in when it happens.

The reporter from Bloomberg said two days ago: "The company hopes this building will be able to turn out 10,000 robots a year, but getting there will take a while. Engineers are still documenting assembly processes, figuring out what tools should go where, before they can start mass hiring technicians to assemble the bots. The first robot assembled here will be completed sometime this month." But unless you are a Sherlock Holmes, you would never get such an impression from *this* video.

They move like old men. “A lot of work need to be done” doesn’t begin to describe what these folks are facing. I see AI taking a lot of jobs, but robots like these aren’t gonna be taking jobs like these for a long time. If ever. I’ve seen conceptualizations of robotics that describe factories that aren’t designed for human use. They’ll be more compact. They won’t have restrooms or break rooms. They won’t have lighting throughout, or climate control for the comfort of human beings. They won’t need human beings. And they probably won’t have anthropomorphic robots. There is no reason for a warehouse robot to look like an early C-3PO. People call them “dark factories”. China is apparently working on the concept, anticipating their population drop off in the next 50 years.

@Basketball4life99
@Basketball4life99 Ай бұрын
@@pelayocf4558 automation is definitely necessary for mass production of goods for both availability of goods and for the business, but it’s approaching to a threshold, with modern technology that it’s starting to take over more and more jobs away from humans. I will give you an example, any major grocery retailer, are now pushing for self-check-out, at first these big box retailers took away business from 100s of local businesses by selling everything they all sold at a much lower cost due to large purchasing power, and most of the local shop owners ended up working there as employees, now even their jobs are at risk of automation. There has to be a line in the sand of what percentage of a business can be robotic and what percentage must be human employees at all departments but obviously this may vary by industry due to supply and demand for availability technology and or skilled workers.
