Walking a festive Paris, France to visit the stunning Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, which is an upmarket French department store chain, the biggest in Europe. Its flagship store is on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. The architecture of the store is art nouveau, with a remarkable dome and a rooftop panoramic view of Paris. The theme for Christmas 2023 is by Charles de Vilmorin telling the tale of the little girl, her magic paintbrush and all the wonderful characters they meet in their adventures, with the centrepiece being a reinvention of the traditional Christmas tree with creatures twirling around the giant tree filled with lights and sparkle beneath the iconic dome. The front of the store includes a huge billboard with a Chanel ad featuring Jennie Kim, member of the South Korean girl group Blackpink.

@@EGO0808 Why only SE. In Japan you can find some great ones too. In China there is some who are just enormous. But none of them are in the middle of Paris and have this history. None of them was build in this period of time. They can try too make things bigger, larger and more luxurius, but none of them can have this piece of art. Galerie Lafayette isn't only this building created 130 years ago. It's 290 stores in the world. 4.5 Bn, 100 % familly owned, 60 M visitors per year. 11 000 employes. Galeries Lafayette are much more than a shopping mall.

I really liked this visit to Galeries Lafayette, because a lot of memories came back to my mind and it was as if I was there; especially on the ground floor, because all the scents quickly permeated you with all those luxury perfumes. The colour palette, the type of design, Of the Xmas decor is very reminiscent of the very very early Cirque du Soleil circa 1980 when Montreal was still mostly French Canadian. I am 60. i lived in that era. So I could see the companies hiring an older French Canadian/Quebecois designer, that is what he would know. The colours, the look, quintessential 1979 1981 shows on Prince Arthur Montreal. Thank You so much for uploading!

J'adore Galeries Lafayette! So many forget it's just a quick jump over, or under, the water. I am curious though could you explain the gentleman cooking something on top of the trolley over a bin (?). He looked so sad, but I was more taken aback by the fire in a trolley. 😳

I was in the store 30.12.23 from approximately 16 to 18h with my wife, 8 year old daughter and 5 year old son and can say "Plus jamais!!" -- NEVER AGAIN!! The overcrowding was so extreme, not to mention illegal given occupancy limits per fire code, it literally sickened us.

hmm… I was there at Christmas less than 10 years ago. The window displays were amazing (I think the theme was space/science fiction), as were the larger public areas displays. But I was looking for shoes. I ended up in a weird, dark basement corner of the building in the most awful space. Felt like Sears, but, like, in communist Siberia. Super weird. Small, almost no selection. Just strange. Bought Uggs, though. Saved my feet, because it was so cold and I was unprepared. It’s amazing to me that stores/malls will put unnecessary things like perfume and makeup front and center, but force you to struggle to find shoes and underwear 😂

Absolutely beautiful scenery and people. Great walk. It's too bad that Paris' soul in 2023 is artfully haunted with "Believe in Fantasy" & medusa stick figures and art depicting feminine faces with eyes crying blood (etc) throughout. Yeah.
