People who live in first world countries think the criminals in Norway are the same type of criminals in third world countries. That is simply not the case. I live in Brazil and I can tell you, some criminals take pride in being evil, they built an identity with crime, they crave the status of a gang leader, they take pleasure in being a wanted criminal. Their gangs are like family to them and crime is their profession. They are fundamentally different...
@cadenceew7933
@cadenceew7933 4 ай бұрын
They might be culturally different, but we generally tend to function under the same pressures as humans. Unless you can provide some evidence for inherent differences, I highly doubt it. The systematic approach might need tweaking, but they are human beings all the same. I think tough decisions have to be made regarding the unique issues facing the country, but I hope this mostly reactionary policy leads to some actual fundamental change. Do you keep them locked up forever or do you wait and hope they come out of jail as completely changed people? Recidivism is an important determinant.

in France the prisons haven't been renovated from since the 70s and they are at 200% full capacity, I'm not joking. BUT right now the prisoners have tv, game consoles, smuggled in phones, uber thrown in from over the walls food (not even joking). Last year there was a scandal because they had a kart and pool party event at a jail. Last month a bunch of high risk prisoners (murder/rape) were led in a visit and picnic at the Versailles palace. Two weeks ago a gang leader got rescued from z prison transfer van and 2 guards were killed, like el chapo.... The guards were in a unarmored delivery style van with just pistols. I just wish we had "terrible" prisons like el Salvador.

This man is my hero. xQc actually spat facts about that woman wrongly comparing Norway criminality with El Salvador's. They don't have the same type of criminality ( extremely influencial cartels who have 0 morals ) or government budgets ( go check out the GDP per capita in Norway and see what is it for Bukele's country ). This forensic specialist might have a degree but she's severely lacking in applying the correct context.

That's just media now, completely ignore any context, point at something else and go "look at that! They do this but better!" If you actually have any interest in this topic (History of Cartels, managing them and their internal politics/economics) I'd recommend the book Narco Nomics. Goes into detail of El Salvadore and the lead up to this, how the two largest cartels actually made a truce on violence that immediately made a significant decrease in Homicides, but fell apart after the Government tried to dismantle them during it and re-igniting conflict.

You know what, X’s take was really good when he talked about at the end of the day the people don’t care about the bad because they physically see the good. Sure there are a lot of things in this video that make the El Salvador prison as bad but a lot of people need to understand that prison is SUPPOSED to be bad. They accurately called out it’s not perfect in arresting innocent people, however are they truly innocent in the sense that they will be future members in the gangs that bring them in? It’s an abhorrent tragedy, the youngsters never stood a chance, but full circle the people are now freely walking the streets at night which is something they avoided for decades, so they’ll sacrifice whatever is happening behind closed walls to enjoy their freedom. I totally agree with x. You can’t compare Norway with El Salvador. I live in Germany we have also a prison which purpose is to rehabilitate and it worked kind of but now with such high rise in crime and immigration it doesn’t work anymore. People live this criminal lifestyle more and rehabilitation don’t work especially with more gang crime where if you get out your going straight to regular crime business again.

I didn’t say it’s good. What im saying tho is, let’s say you’re getting born there you grow up poor your parents leave with you when you’re 9 years old because they can’t provide a healthy surrounding for you be it Food education whatever. So what would you do? Either join a gang or live alone on the street until you starve. Now tell me is it the 9 year old you fault for wanting to live or the state for not providing a safe environment for the population?

recidivism rates in a place like Norway is a complete joke. they have 1/50th the prisoner population of El Salvador. they have like 1/75th the prisoner population of the US, what they dont tell you on those recidivism charts is that it's based on a much lower percentage of inmates than other places around the world like the US. everybody is different. one guy might get reformed here in the US and walk out of prison to never do crime again. that's more based on the person and their own choices than it is their environment in prison. you are also talking about a tiiiiiiny amount of prisoners in Norway compared to the MASSIVE amounts of prisoners in both the US and somewhere like El Salvador. in and out of prison here in the US you have LOTS of culture influences. gang culture for instance, both before alot of people are put in prison and even while they're in prison and even after getting out of prison influences whether or not a person is going to changE. that influence impacts whether these prisoners get reformed or not SO MUCH MORE than simply giving them better living conditions. how much of a gang culture does Norway have? in comparison to the US or El Salvador, i can guarantee it's extremely minor in comparison. if you really want to reform these criminals, you need to attack the gang cultures that promote that kind of criminal activity and that has literally nothing to do with how many amenities these prisoners have in prison. you can give US prisoners all the Xbox's and Playstations you want, set them up in their own houses and everything... that still wont stop the gang culture that spreads in and out of prisons here in the US. that culture is what needs to change, NOT the amount of amenities prisoners have/get in prison.
