Under Armour is constructing a revolutionary headquarters on Baltimore’s waterfront, known as TMB2. This modern structure is part of a major urban revitalization project in Port Covington(now Baltimore Peninsula), encompassing 235 acres. The design, led by Gensler, features futuristic elements like ETFE panels and extensive glass, which provide natural light and reduce solar heat. TMB2 includes a 30,000-square-foot retail store, a fitness center, and office spaces, with a strong focus on sustainability. Solar panels and geothermal systems will minimize energy dependence, while rainwater harvesting will reduce water usage. The building’s construction, utilizing cross-laminated timber (CLT), highlights advancements in sustainable materials despite challenges like fire resistance. The broader redevelopment project aims to transform the area into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood, supported by a substantial $660 million tax-increment financing package.

i think you have some dates and facts wrong - Under Armour founder Kevin Plank bought the land in Port Covington in 2013/2014, not 2016. UA already had a full completed design plan for a HQ in Port Covington in summer 2015 - the "consolidate operations in a post-COVID world" design you are talking about is a much scaled back version from 2021 after the massive decline in UA sales. The original plan for Port Covington was to create a WHQ to rival Nike's large expansive campus

This video creator likes to play fast and lose with facts. How about when he said “the upper four floors…” while circling three? 🤷🏼‍♂️ He also is regurgitating false info about mass timber buildings being more susceptible to fire. This is a fact that has been proven false time and time again. Lastly, he said mass timber buildings can’t go above 20 stories, which again, is false as Milwaukee has a fully open 25 story mass timber building and a proposed project of 32 stories about to break ground. This creator is just in it for the views. 😔

CLT isn’t more susceptible to fire - the binding agent between layers is a fire retardant and it performs better in structural fire conditions than other building materials. You may be correct about moisture, but mass timber is one of the best construction choices for fire safety.
