My Neighbors from Langata.We always visited Upper Hill and we always knew it was going to be something big from the 80s.My cousin lived there.Now it’s a city.Not surprised.

Upperhill has better roads than Westlands. It is also less crowded. It is mostly office space (financial e.g. Equity, KCB, NCBA, UAP, Britam etc., embassies such as Japan and UK, and dozens of legal and premier medical establishments). Oh and Radisson Blue and Crowne Plaza hotels. The greater Upperhill area is home to 3 of Kenya's top 5 tallest buildings. Fun fact, the other 2 are in Westlands, Nairobi CBD has none in the top five.

During the Elnino rains last year, most infrastructure at Upper hill was destroyed. The drainage systems, sidewalks, road markings, electric cables, several potholes etc..are all an eyesore. Over to you Gov. Sakaja.

My childhood neighbourhood has really changed.. So many offices and apartments now.Used to be mostly bungalows very few flats and very quiet and serene back in my days in the 80s and 90s..around 1996 is when they started the office buildings(Rahimtulla towers)was the first then British High Commission then Citibank next to it..then the rest(Shelter Afrique/Britam etc)those started in the late 90s..even the library wasn't like it is now..back when we went it was a little 1 storey building and it was dark inside always lol(very old school)now it looks nice

The vibandas serve to sell food to the construction workers. They have received approval from the county government for efficiency. However, once construction is completed, they are mandated to vacate. Failure to do so results in their removal. This is crucial because completed buildings with food-selling vibandas can deter potential buyers, especially if concerns about disease transmission arise. Residential building management makes an effort to uphold proper vegetation around the buildings that's why they can't be there afterwards.

And at upper Hill, you will mostly find Corporates offices. Most of those tall buildings are owned by banks, insurance companies , organisations. The building you have said its looks like a football stadium those are offices for Coca cola africa.

Please confirm Harriet. Pinnacle towers construction was stopped my National Environment because of land degradation and pinnacle management got frustrated and opted for Rwanda. Please check and let us know the current status.

It 100% was..i literally grew up there.I saw my neighbors houses taken down for those buildings to go up(I saw British high Commission built from ground up) In the 80s and early 90s there was NO OFFICE building in upperhill.That started in 1996..1st was Rahimtulla towers then Citibank then BHC then the rest
