Would you choose to use the lighter Extra Pale Premium Pilsner or the Standard Pilsner for brewing a Bavarian Helles with a single infusion mash?

Hi, Will we need to purchase from a distributor to source these malts for home brewing? If we do, please let me know who to go to for the Munich Type 2. Also I love the beer 1878, any idea of the ingredients for a home brewer to try to emulate?

Great video. Thank you. Do you know what the diastatic power is for Munich Type 1? I am wishing to do a beer with mostly Munich Type 1, but plan on adding 5-10% specialty malts and wonder if I will need to take other steps to make sure I have a well converting mash.

Thank you! Our Weyermann® Munich Malt I, as well as all other Weyermann® base malts, has enough enzymatic activity and can perfectly be used together with our specialty malts. At least 45-50 minutes rest at temperatures of 63-65°C and a negative iodine test above 70°C will ensure a well-converted mash and starch. We recommend including a certain amount of Weyermann® Pilsner Malt in most of malt grain bills. Happy brewing!

terrific video, thanks - one question - Is there any particular style you can suggest that would use 100% or a high percentage of the Munich II malt ?

Thanks! You can use our Weyermann® Munich Malt II for a variety of beers. We recommend its use for Dark Lagers, Dark Bock as well as Dark Weissbier and Altbier. Happy brewing!

Can I use 100% of Munich malt II for some beers?

I use now Munich II with Pale Ale and beer is great… I”m just couriers ???

Of course you could! Our Weyermann® Munich malt 2 is carefully kilned to produce color and aroma, but also to have enough enzymatic activity. By using it at very high percentages, you can expect to produce a beer with a higher mouthfeel and body than beers brewed with paler base malts. Happy brewing!
