Inside Zedd's $16 Million Mansion That Has a Skittles Machine | Open Door | Architectural Digest

In this episode of Open Door, Grammy-winning record producer and DJ Zedd gives an in-depth tour of his $16 million mansion in Benedict Canyon, an area of Los Angeles that's near Sherman Oaks and northwest of Beverly Hills. Zedd's self-decorated home is 9,500 square feet with views of the canyon and tons of full-length glass windows.

The house is structured into three sections: work, living, and sleep. The work section has Zedd's recording studio and an unfinished gym.
The driveway leads into the front entrance, which crosses a moat.
A huge wall with cubbies holds art, awards, and silly memorabilia. For instance, Zedd's Grammy sits next to a poop emoji.
At the end of a corridor, before going outside, guests can pick their favorite flavor of the rainbow from the Skittles machine.
Zedd also has a server room and a "Costco Room" that contains just about anything he would need if he weren't able to leave the house for a long time.
The bathrooms feature automated blinds that can sometimes surprise the person taking the shower early in the morning.
The remote-controlled curtains in Zedd's bedroom make him the happiest of any feature in the house.
Outside, the pool has a hidden jacuzzi / hot tub that's revealed when the pool's water level drops.
The kitchen has four built-in hibachi grills, a pot filler above the stovetop (which Zedd says is the reason he bought the house), and built-in vacuums.

This is a house and not a home. This young man, who I didn't know of till this video, is only 30 yrs old in here. I appreciate the design of the building and all, sleek, modern, great amenities, Wow-factor A++. It is also very clear Zedd the owner is ABSOLUTELY disconnected from it. This makes this building even colder than ever. This kind of house needs a small 24/7 housekeeping crew -- chef, house cleaner, gardening. It is quite fitting that he didn't know which door led to where and that his own closet is still not yet completely set up for him to enjoy....This house is the kind of house that very easily will OWN ITS OWNER.

I've been watching a lot of videos about ridiculously expensive mansions lately and I've noticed that all the owners half the time don't even know why they have half the things they do. Don't get me wrong though, Zedd's house is astonishing in most respects and is a massive reward for anyone who may purchase it. Also a massive fan of Zedd's work!

The reason we need to "save the trees" is bc they're part of an ecosystem that houses millions of animals, absorb CO2 and cleans the air with oxygen. However, this isolated tree in a house isn't going to make an impact, it doesn't belong to any ecosystem and Zedd clearly sucks at taking care of plants. A fake tree is his best bet. Btw California needs to do intentionally controlled burning of old trees, due to all the dead brush lying on forest floors, which further ignite fires. Wildfires would be easier to contain and stop from spreading, if we did what Native Americans have done for centuries, which is the practice of "cultural burning" away dead trees to make room for healthier and newer vegetation. Indigenous fire practices shape the land, and yet here we are ignoring the natives who originally owned and maintained the natural preserves of this country. We're idiots.

Just watched Devin Booker's video and this one doesn't look like home 🤔 I always heard people saying things like "this place has its owner personality", "it's comfy, warm, etc". I lived in enclosed field about an acre long when i was homeless.. surrounded by mansions and when people partied they throw away all the beer they didn't open after the party, the field was littered with unopened beers . It was a minefield. Unfortunately i was practicing non alcoholism. But it was one of the safest places I've ever lived.. one side a church parking lot with security.. and the other side homeowners and the cyclone fence entrance was chained , so only me and some cats lived there.

I can't believe how much this looks like the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA. It even has water like that outside where you come in the door, and the stairway is identical, and benches to sit on, etc. This is either the same architect, or they must have styled the house after the museum.

Tdog683107 😂😂😂 that’s coz you don’t live there. Honestly when I think about it he was talking about very many reasonable things in the house. And I think for him what matters more is functionality rather than design. As an architect I learnt something new with this video. Like with the bathtub most people actually use showers. Especially if you have gone to boarding school and stuff u will get used to using showers instead of bathtubs. I remember when I went to a 5 star hotel in one of the islands in Malaysia, and there was a luxurious bathtub and shower. I ended up using the shower. And never touched the bathtub. So I think this would be good advice for architects to pay more attention to the design of a shower rather than a bathtub. Like this guy said about the sinks by the stove being the reason why he bought the house. Just being thoughtful about the functionality matters more than the design.
